Maintainence fee question (Can you pay MF using Points?)

I am a gold member and was just persuaded to purchase more points so I could get on the biannual points system in order to increase my reservation window. That said I was also told that I could convert unused points to choice priviledges points which I could use to pay maintainence fees. Has anyone ever done this? I can't see any way to make this work and am considering cancelling my contract which was just signed yesterday. I only have 5 days to do this so any assistance is appreciated.

Cancel the contract. Converting points in any system to pay for maintenance fees, cruises, etc are a very poor value.

You should rescind.

You can convert unused points to Choice Privilege Points but these are to use for hotel stays only - and the points conversion is a very poor value.
And if you already have too many points then you can use, buying more is not a good idea.

If you feel you need or want more points, it is better at this time to add inexpensive resale points to your ownership, they will be treated exactly the same as your other points purchased at retail.

EDIT - you can increase your reservation window by simply pre-paying your maint. fee and borrowing points from next year. This way you will have two years to use your points as current points and they will not be turned into saved points with restrictions.
