  • weeks owner at The Fountains (Oasis Lakes)

    Hi,

I`m a week owner at The Fountains (Oasis Lakes) in Orlando, Florida. I live in the UK. I`ve owen my week since about 2000. Its week 4
If I reserve my week for Jan` 2015 (week 4) and I dont go, will I have to pay anything (I will of course pay maint` fees when there due around November 2014).
I`ve never yet booked it and never gone for my week yet but was wondering what if I did not turn up. I`ve paid for it (cash) and own the week outright.
I use the same room all the time, so was just wondering the question?

    Thanks

    Ken

I know more about points, but I don't think you owe anything more than your maintenance fees annually. You, of course, could rent out the week instead of just wasting the week, but you have to let Bluegreen who will be the one checking in. Bluegreen, of course, would prefer you let them know, because then they could make money and rent out the room (not giving you anything for it). By the way, that's one of the best weeks to go to Disney as far as low crowds.

      Why leave it empty?
You can deposit it to the exchange companies and go elsewhere.
Since you are in the UK I'd check with DAElive if you don't have an RCI or II account.
No sense in leaving it empty if you can vacation elsewhere.

Trading is a good idea. I traded my Myrtle Beach summer week for a week at Wychnor Park Country Club just north of Birmingham, England. A real nice place with a 9 hole golf course on site. Play is free so take your clubs.

Well tried with friends in the UK to rent it to them but they would want to go in Summer not 3/4 week in Jan` I`ve not tried to rent it say on eBay or other sites like that. Dont know if I could trust anyone as problems say getting the money (ebay would also want a cut) also I feel responsible if problems arise when I`ve rented it out to someone I dont know (for one week is it worth the hassle).

I think Bluegreen should pay me some money if I dont go and they then rent it back out so why should i let them have it for nothing!

I`ve used RCI and it was not to my liking. First, I have to pay them money to join up, and then pay to deposit my week. Then the hardest part was getting a Vacation in a same standard resort (Gold Crown) also same standard (as my Apartment in Oasis. I`m in the ones Opp` Lake Eve original ones Block 3)

RCI did not have the places I wanted when I wanted to go on my hols. I was with them for a few years and left, as I did not think I was getting that good a deal. I do not really want to leave it empty and loose out but as I live in the UK and my week is week 4. In addition, it is hard to get people interested in paying for a week in winter in the USA. Just to fly over from the UK for the week is around £450-£500 (pounds) each, then they would need to give me some money. It is lot pounds/dollars when added up. When I go, I go on the Gulf Coast first (approx. 7-8 days) then finish off in my resort for the Final week. Therefore, for me it is good, but this coming Jan` I will not be going.

For all the hassle with RCI trying to get a week when I want it. (Same standard) I`ve done it and it did not work for me, I do not know about the other companies not tried them. I have some friends who live in Idaho and have offered them my place (free) before, but no takers. I suppose someone who goes to Florida that time of the year, it would be a good deal but trying to sell it to friends, the idea its hard work.

However, I suppose I will still book my week for next year and you never know I might win the lottery and have some money to go.

The main reason I`m not going is that I`m trying to sell my home in the UK and I hope to buy a business in the US and live in Florida on an E2 Visa with my family. I`m one of the idiots who want to move/live in the US legally. If all goes well I will not be that far from Oasis Lakes then and I can still go in Jan after all

Well we tried to get a good place in the UK a while ago when I was with RCI it was damn hard work. My wife/kids want the beach area. Brum` is no good for me/us. The ones we wanted at the times we wanted (in the UK) really it has to be summer (June to end of August`) was mission impossible. Honest we have done all this. It looks good the idea but for a real holiday near the beach was a no no. We live in Wales so whats the point of the countryside like Scotland or thye Lake District. Like I said it also has to be the same standard as I own in Florida and its impossible. I`ve tried it, no good.
