  • Aruba? :)

My wife and I are thinking of heading to Aruba for the first time. Anyone been there? Any tips/gotchas?

What is there to do except the beach? Best time of year to visit?

I appreciate any information you can supply!!

    Thanks!

Have been to La Cabana many times - it is the reason I purchased with Bluegreen.

A little quirk of the resort, the 1BRs and studios are the same square footage. So the studio is one large spacious room with a full kitchen, breakfast bar queen bed and sofa bed.
The one bedrooms are this same space divided in half. You enter the bedroom with king bed, walk thru to a small hall with bathroom and then into the living room/kitchen with a sofa bed. Both units have a small balcony.
There is a one bedroom deluxe but there are only a handful of these units.

My preferred time to visit is Christmas thru April. I also like the mid Oct-December time frame. It is HOT in July-Sept and it is definitely humid in Aug-early October.

Aruba is really about the nice weather, beautiful beaches and great restaurants.
There are ATV tours of the wild side, caves to explore, donkey & ostrich sanctuary, butterfly farm. And all kinds of water sports and tours and boat trips.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

This was our honeymoon spot we returned some 20- years later and saw much has changed, The food was good then and it still is with more of the better restaurants to go to. The natural bridge has fallen. The beaches are great as are the tress. They have a tree called the Divi tree. It looks like the wind hit it and it did, The tree goes to one side. There are iguanas all over the place. La Cabana has a few.

La Cabana has also undergone a total renovation in the past few years…they now have their own small casino.
I mention this because the Bluegreen website still has the old description of murphy beds on their website.
All bathrooms now have large walk in showers, the tubs were removed.
It is not the Marriott but it is very nice.

Yes, they do updates and have a sales team at La Cabana. I have never attended but they are there.

Walk on the palm beach towards Marriott and they have a kiosk in front of Surf Club where you can get an invite to tour the Marriott Surf club.

Just joined this forum - been to Aruba several times since we bought into Bluegreen in 2008 - you will enjoy it. Book it as early as possible to get an ocean view.

We always go between end of December to mid February

                      Hi and to TS4Ms.
I agree to get the availability in Aruba thru Bluegreen, booking at 11 months out if possible is the way to go, especially during the popular December thru March timeframe.

My Parents bought 36000 points about 10 years ago...they been to alot of different places with the points. Aruba many times, Arizona many times, Florida, Atlantic City (for free). They are gold members and are now thinking of selling their points. They got their use out of it. Their points are broken up as follows...but not sure if i can sell seperately or have to be all together. 13K points, 13K points, 10K points. Total maintance fees is $2163.00 but i guess that gets broken up is sold as individual point amounts. Anyone interested?

they are any week you want....can book 11 months in advance. They are not tied to a particular unit...can get any unit you want (studio, one bedroom, two bedroom). Or any bluegreen resort, not just La Cabana. Just looked at the history online...they bought in 2007...almost 8 years ago. Their home resort is La Cabana. At La Cabana 36000 points gets you 3 weeks in a one bedroom...or six weeks in a studio.
