RCI Question

Ok, I can't figure this out, and need some help.

If I want to make a reservation overseas with RCI, here's what I think I know:

1 - I'll use a certain amount of my BG points (based on where and when I stay)
2 - I'll also pay a fee (I think $120 or somewhere around there).
3 - Some properties in RCI also have a daily fee. I'll have to pay that as well

My questions:

a - the fee in #2...does that go to bluegreen or RCI? Do I owe the other place any additional funds?
b - the daily fee to the property...the one I was looking at (had a 30EUR fee per person per day (15EUR for kids). That means in addition to paying points and the fee in #2, I pay this, correct?

The property I was looking at was http://www.satelit.rs/ (I can't get the RCI number because their search is down at the moment). I can book something direct on their website for less than 90EUR/night. This makes it sound like I'm missing something here.

The RCI exchange fee is paid to RCI, it is currently $199/209 per exchange.
If your resort in Europe is a points resort, the exchange fee is a little less. I believe $159 for a 7+ day exchange.

And the resort charges a fee PER DAY for each adult? Is this a "half board/full board" food charge. 30+30+15+15=90

If what you say is true and you can rent directly from the resort for 90 euro per day for four people then you certainly should just rent directly - makes no sense to exchange.

I looked again (once the search functionality started working) and it is a board fee for meals.

Thanks in general for the information. It helped me confirm, in my mind, that I wasn't looking at it wrong.

P.S. By the way, the resort I was looking at was Club Satelit (#A846) in the RCI system.

Your welcome Matt.....when you compare the costs even with the half board, it will be interesting to see which way is cheaper. It might be better to save your BG points for exchanges that give you more bang for your bucks.

Yep. I originally planned to buy a lot more BG points than we have -- hubby "couldn't pass up a deal" for a smaller batch of points that only cost transfer fees. I thought we'd live with those for a while and then buy more points, but turns out we have the best of both worlds right now. I prefer using our points when I can, but our points also get us access to trades and cash deals with RCI that are sometimes the best deals on the market. So we use our points when that's the best use of our money, and rentals (through RCI or not) when that's the better deal. And sometimes it's one, and sometimes it's the other. Just have to check each location and/or resort as you go.
