I don't think you'll be disappointed but you will need a car.
There is a nice Benihana next door and Publix just around the corner.
Fountains has a large footprint. 'Next door' is a hike if you are in the old buildings, but if you are in building 10 (as I remember) it is just across the street. Domino's pizza is in the lower level of that building when you have walked so much as Disney that getting across the street is too far.

Pool is very nice from what I have heard. I am not a water baby. The DW and her friends went to the pool while I stayed in the unit and cooked dinner.

We have stayed at the Fountains 3 times. I do recommend for Disney trips.

      Well true.
I was in the Oasis Lakes section so I guess those are the old buildings but I always have a car so it's close for me.
I don't recommend staying in this section without a car. I-Drive is a pain without a car.
You are right, next door to anything is like a mile hike in the FL heat!

Dont bother with the domino's. They have the "tourist" pricing model. Last time we were there, we ordered 2 cheese pizza's and 1 pepperoni. They want just shy of $60. Told them never mind. Lots of eateries on I-Drive. Benihana is good, but pricey.

Can I ask for a certain area at the fountains, since it is so large? What AREA/building would you suggest???? Newer vs older??? THANKS AGAIN ALL!!!

Personally, I have always got the "older" lake view rooms. Last time we were there, I had 2 rooms, one for me, one for my kids and grandkids. They got a room in the new(er) buildings. Frankly, I didnt notice a difference. The unit I was in had been upgraded, and had a better kitchen then I had in my house!!

The older ones have a very short walk to the original pool, which is usually less crowded. Its only a 3 - 5 min stroll to the big pool anyway, so I dont think you can lose at the fountains either way. Disney is 10 -15 min to the main transportation center, and the resort does run shuttles (although I find the times inconvenient).

There are outlet malls (if you into shopping) close enough that your AC will not get the car cooled down by the time you get there, and seaworld is very close. You could ~almost~ walk.

            Hope you have fun!!

I took a tour of the newer building and to be honest the older buildings of Oasis Lakes were just as nice as the Presidential unit toured us thru.

Here are some pictures of the Oasis Lakes Section:

Be aware, though, that there are some small units in the older buildings at the Fountains. The bigger 2BR units sleep eight; the ones that sleep six are smaller than average.

Got to thinking my last post wasn't that clear. If you reserve online, the bigger 2BRs in the Oasis Lakes (older) buildings are "2 Bedroom Deluxe". The small ones are "2 Bedroom Standard". The ones that are like the average BG 2 BR (in the buildings BG first built) are just "2 Bedroom." They all cost the same in terms of points. I am guessing the 2 BR Superior are the ones in building 10 with the Presidential units, but I could be wrong. The Oasis Lakes units are in buildings 3 & 4; I suspect some of the units in building 5 also have a nice view of the lake, but it's set well back from the lake and is further from the amenities. The rest of the BG units have views of the ponds with fountains, except Building 10, which has a view of the pool if you're on one side or a view of the road and the resort beyond if you're on the other (since it's so high up above the road, not that bad a view, and quieter than the pool side -- but doesn't compare to a view of the lake, IMHO).

Buildings 3 & 4 are to either side of the heated indoor/outdoor pool, but you have to walk across multiple parking lots to get to the pool with the slides and whatnot. When it's cold, the indoor/outdoor pool is crowded, because the bigger pool isn't heated. My kids had no problem swimming in the big pool when we were there (an unusually cool May), but the water play area was Too Cold for them.

I can't recall where were were the first time - but the second time we were definitely closer to the big pool (so I guess that is the newer section)...but the room in your pics looks much newer/nicer !

When you use BG points you have to go thru the RCI portal that is in your BG account.
You should see what is available and how many points it will cost you when you search.
Disney deposits about 5-7 months in advance of the date but this could change at any time.
You should start your ongoing search (paid in advance) as soon as you are sure of your
dates with RCI for your best shot at getting what you want.
Disney is not a tough exchange if you are flexible with your resort choices.
Just don't fixate on only BLT and be willing to accept SSR or OKW if you are going at a
tough time like spring break or Presidents Day week.

There is a grid of points that is used to trade in RCI.
I don't own BG points so not sure what the grid is exactly but I'm sure someone with
BG points will come along to share that info with you.

My suggestion is to try to stay at Disney.
The grid will cost you the same no matter where you stay in Orlando so might as well
stay at a nicer place, especially if Disney parks is in your plans.
So I just put in an OGS for a DVC for the first week in November, for a 2bdrm. Im hoping since we aren't picky, we get through! We'd love AKL!

You have a bit of time before November starts showing up and a first week of November stands a good chance of hitting. I've seen a couple/few early August in RCI but nothing after that at Saratoga Springs (DV06).

When does November usually hit? Also, do we stand a chance of anything outside of SSR? Not that we don't like SSR, but like I said AKL would be amazing!
