  • Bluegreen VIP Extended Stay Benefit: Housekeeping Fee?

I'm currently at Wilderness Club at Big Cedar in one of the presidential suites in the 3000 building. We're due to check out tomorrow and I saw online that a presidential suite was available for tomorrow night. Since there are only 6 presidential suites, I figured it was worth a phone call to see if the one I'm in is free so I could take advantage of the extended stay benefit.

I called Bluegreen and they said yes, booked me and gave me a confirmation number. No mention of any fees.

I just got a confirmation email and it lists a housekeeping fee of $50.

I'd always understood this to be a free benefit since you're only supposed to be able to use it if the exact room you're in is available, so adding a fee makes little sense.

I'm calling them back now but was just curious if I'd missed something about a fee. I just looked on bluegreenowner.com and it does not mention cleaning fee.

I'm a peon and don't have that option, but I always thought it was free, too. Also rarely available. So congrats - I think. Assuming it ends up being the deal it's supposed to be.

Did adding that night kick you into a second week maybe? My guess is it's something like that, or just someone unfamiliar with the process and you'll get the fee waived as soon as you talk to someone who knows what's going on.

    Good luck!

Bottom line: there should be no housekeeping fee for the extended stay benefit.

I called Bluegreen back and spoke with a really nice lady. She was confused too by the fee and put me on hold to investigate. When she came back online (22 minutes later!) she'd spoken with 4 different supervisors. They were all baffled as to why the fee was on there but assured me that when I go to the Wilderness Club check-in, they won't charge me the fee.

Honestly, even if they charged me $50, it would be well worth it. (Heck, at times I'd be happy to pay $50 for the privilege of late checkout!). But luckily I should not need to pay.
