Can anyone provide the lowdown on how things work since BG went private? I've got different and contradictory explanations at the last couple owner updates.

Has anything really changed besides the significant price per point increase? I gather that new points (ie those purchased after 12/31/2013) don't "blend".

What exactly does that mean? Does it mean I'd have to start over in the quest to attain the next level (we are currently silver with 27000 points, so at last count, we'd need 8000 more, unless the change means we have to start from scratch)

If we have to start over to get gold, I'd just as soon forget it and just try to accrue as many cheap points as we can via the resale market...

Does boca still sell points?

Points still "blend" as long as they are in the same trust fund.
Bluegreen is currently selling trust fund E.
You can call Bluegreen and ask for an estoppel letter that will tell you which trust fund your points are in.
If you own E and buy/acquire more points in E, you will pay just one base fee of $330.

Some day, Bluegreen will start selling the next trust fund, but as long as you keep your ownerships in the same one, you should be okay.

In my opinion, it is not worth the money at minimum $1.25 per point to buy 8,000 points from Bluegreen or Pinnacle Vacations to reach Gold level. You can pick up small contracts for practically nothing if you feel you need/want more points. Your resale points will be treated exactly the same by. Bluegreen, they just will not count toward the next premiere level.
You already have Travelers Plus and the other bells and whistles that make the program great.

I am unaware if Boca still selling points, he has not posted here in years

Thanks - they must have stopped selling E then.

It's even worse than you mentioned - they are selling at $3/point with the minimum block of 10K. No way was I dropping $30,000 yesterday. Something is definitely different as they usually keep coming back with different offers trying to get you to buy something.

The rep also said renting is against the rules - that's the first I've heard that. Previous reps have always used renting as a selling point to help with maintenance fees...

All of what you posted is not true, the rep lied to you.

They are still selling trust fund E.

You can buy directly from Bluegreen for $2.00 and from the authorized reseller Pinnacle Vacations for $1.25.

And there is no way they can stop you from renting out your reservations.

They lied to you to get you to buy.
It is really disgusting that this is allowed to go on.

Where were you that you got that type of owner update?
I want to avoid updates whenever possible.
I get told one place I MUST present a credit card to have an update. Next place says there is no requirement for that.
And when I must present it, I leave. I am not giving out my credit card unless I am making a purchase. My credit card is not ID.

He's the one that said $3/pt and minimum 10K purchase. He also told me that my "account" which had all my points purchased on or before 12/31/2014 was closed and that they would no longer be able to "blend" new purchases with those old points.

The prior update (last December at Shorecrest) said that future points would be right to use and expire after 25 years (the fountains guy said that wasn't true).

Where can I go to find out what the real rules are?

Why don't you send this information to customer service via email on the website. Then report back to us what they said.

All kidding aside, it is pretty sad when the sales representatives of a company LIE to you to get you to buy from them.....and Bluegreen Corporate turns a blind eye to this.

I know you used to be able to rent through Bluegreen, but that has been gone many years ago. So not sure what you are referring to.

I saw "renting your points" as an option when I was submitting a question.

I got back a response that they would follow up with the parties involved.
