  • Rescind and buy resale?

We just purchased 20K points and we are still within our rescind period. I've now started doing my research ( imagine that!) and wondering if we should rescind and purchase through Pinnacle? We want the bonus time and the travelers plus membership. Is it possible to buy 4K points with the charter perks and blend with those resale points without? Can those purchases make you silver? I read on here that you can't go platinum that way. Any thoughts, tips, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks Alissa

Yes, rescind! You can only rescind for a short time, so send your certified letter TODAY.

I'm sure you can get a better deal on resale--the Bluegreen experts will be along momentarily to tell you how to do that.

You can rescind and buy from Pinnacle Vacations at $1.25 per point and buy as as many or as few points as you want. All of those points count toward status. If you buy a small package for the bonus time and other chartered benefits you can combine with cheaper or even free points but the additional points won't count toward silver or any other status. When combining you want to make sure you trust funds and use years match.

We stopped by the preview center to discuss canceling. They told us that the charter membership would not be available with pinnacle. We know that we want to be able to use the exchange with RCI and the bonus times. I'm so confused and my husband is sure that we can use the 20,000 points every year. We paid 1.45 per point which doesn't seem so bad. The sales manager also said that the charter points through Pinnacle were not the same. Like I said, we want the charter benefits and my husband wants the outdoor sportsmanship which I think is with the travel plus.

I think that your confusion is reason enough to rescind. Bluegreen's system is indeed confusing, and I know they have recently made some changes that make a Bluegreen ownership less attractive. Here's a link to a thread at TUG regarding a Bluegreen recission.

          http://tugbbs.com/forums/showthread....ight=bluegreen

TUG's Newbies Help board is more active than this forum, so here's a link to that, too.

          http://tugbbs.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=17

BTW, don't call or discuss rescinding with the salespeople. Their goal is to keep you from rescinding, and they're really good salespeople, or you would never have made such a large purchase that you don't understand! Think about it. Whatever you spent, would you ever plonk down thousands of dollars for a car that seems to have nice features, but you don't really understand what they are or how it works?

Really, rescind now. Believe me, the deal will still be there if you ever decide you want it. (But you won't, because you'll know how inexpensively you can buy the same thing resale.)

The charter membership wouldn't be exactly the same but it is the same as anyone who bought direct before 2010 or so has. It may not include some f the outdoor sportsmanship perks but the way they usually work is you trade in $400 worth of mf in exchange for $250 worth of benefits or something to that effect. Bonus time is the same and a small pinnacle purchase will get it for you.

If you don't understand everything completely you should rescind now and do your research and then purchase. Just remember when you don't want it any more you will be really lucky if you can get $500 in exchange for someone taking your points. 5000-30,000 points are regularly advertised for just the transfer fee.

Why not rescind, do your research, then do what you want with a clear head?

Everyone here knows what I would do.

Thanks. I will be sending recession letter in the morning. I have also contacted Pinnacle vacations to start learning about their charter point packages and so forth. Without the enhanced travel plus it looks like the RCI exchange service is not available. Is that true with older charter points?

The only other question was that the salesmen all told us that if we cancelled a charter option would never be offered again or available through Bluegreen again. They would gladly take our money, but the charter option was forever gone. Any truth?

You will always be able purchase direct fromBluegreen and get Charter Benefits. Salesperson is lying so he will not lose the sale.

All Bluegreen owners get a paid RCI Weeks membership as part of the club dues. When you have Travelers Plus, you also get access to RCI Nightly Stays or RCI Points Membership. You would get that if you purchased qualified Points thru Pinnacle.

Pinnacle gets their inventory from current Bluegreen owners who want to sell their ownerships. They are a timeshare resale company authorized by Bluegreen to be able to offer Charter Benefits.

The lower price packages are the ones they are selling without benefits.

I really enjoy my BG ownership, but there are many ways to purchase that will help you get what you need.
Once you understand how the trust funds work and after your initial purchase thru Pinnacle, you will be able to pick up resale here, or on TUG or eBay for (almost) free.

Rescission letter sent, actually 2, I have a touch of OCD. I will be talking with Sherry at Pinnacle in just a bit to get a better understanding of how they operate, etc. I don't understand the trust fund portion, not even a little bit, so that is something I need to be working on. I am also wondering is it better to purchase through a club where you are most interested in their resort inventory or a mixture of that and the exchange options? This is a whole new world and I am totally digging it! We are both young (Hubs is 47 and I'm 43). He is 2 yrs from retirement and I am a self-employed CPA. I know a CPA, what was I thinking? I still believe the time share purchase made sense and I believe it would have still saved us a lot of money at the price we had originally agreed to. However, rescinding and buying resale will save us EVEN MORE money and that's fantastic and makes the concept make even more sense!

Again thanks and I WILL be doing my homework, much better than the first time.

Basically, trust fund E has a yearly base fee of $330(now $335?) plus a per point cost of $0.503(now $0.0508) so you can have 3-4 contracts and they all blend...do a search of this board to find my comparisons of the maint fees per point....honestly, 25-30K is a great price point for ownership that will get you a lot of nice vacations per year either directly thru Bluegreen or RCI.

You also have the option of joining Interval International for $79. Year and using a 7K summer Harbor Lights 1BR deposit and trading into Marriott's and Starwood resorts.....all good.
