  • Question - re: Bluegreen RCI ongoing search

So, I started a OGS in Jan 2014 - looking for one week check in between 8/21-8/23/2015. Originally set it up as a 1 bedroom at BLT, BCV, BWV or VWL - but have since dropped it down to a studio to increase my chances. I've been told on other forums that studios are rarely, if ever available at RCI now. Do I need to switch it back to a 1 bedroom or will it match me regardless ?

Also, just last week - because I am paranoid lol - I started a second OGS for SSR or OKW for the same week (as those aren't our preferred resorts - but we'd much rather stay on property than off property) so we can use DDP and take advantage of the FP+ 60 days out.

We are going with 3 other families that are all staying on property (BLT, GF and WL...but the WL family said they would switch their resort to stay in the same resort as us if we get matched on property).

I already booked a plan B - The Fountains in case we don't get matched.

ugh - this waiting and uncertainty is so stressful !! lol

I wish there was a way to see how high on the wait list we are .... and what others ahead of us are looking for. That would make this a little less stressful.

Any other tips/tricks ? Should I be doing anything differently ???

If you asked for a studio and a 1 bedroom becomes available, you should get it (if you have the necessary trading power units). It's a minimum size (assuming no glitches at RCI, never a solid assumption).

I'm not a Disneyfile, but you have a good shot at Wyndham Bonnet Creek for those dates if you are willing to consider it. Many "on property" lovers are happy there.

I'm sure some Disney experts will be along shortly to chime in about the on-property requests. Good luck!

The studios are usually only seen in RCI points.
Do you have Travellers Plus? Did you buy from the developer?
If so then if there is a studio you should pick it up with that old of an ongoing search.
August deposits are already showing up in RCI for your dates.
Might be worth a call to the BG desk at RCI. You just never know.
I don't trust these OGS's 100%. Pay the $20 extra and make sure.

I have only personally seen a studio at AKV online and it was in RCI points.
Studios are wildly popular in DVC for spec renting so they rarely get deposited to RCI.

Your backup plan isn't the worst thing that can happen, the Fountains is a beautiful resort.
Just have one of your friends add you to their reservation so you get free parking.

The DDP is really not worth the cost any more. You have way more options off property.
I've added friends staying off site to my ressie when I stay on property and they can come
and go like they are in their own homes, park everywhere and even get magic bands.
You can customize each band with a different credit card or no charging privileges.

Yes we have travelers plus...which why I am confused bc we connect into RCI directly thru the BG website (so I don't know if I have an RCI points or weeks acct). I assume it is a points acct bc everything shows up as point values and I don't have to deposit a week (that I know of). While I am not new to BG - I never really tried to exchange with RCI before. So this part is all new to me.

Yes, all of our points are directly from Bluegreen. We are bronze members.

I agree - I don't 100% trust them either....which is why I have been manually searching everyday for about a month now and I haven't seen any for my dates - only early Aug or Sept. I have tried calling the number for the BG RCI desk and have had VERY mixed experiences...so I don't know that I trust them much either LOL.

One guy that I spoke to back in January seemed very knowledgable and told me that because I set up the OGS so early that I am very high on the wait list and should have no problem getting matched by mid-Feb for one of my original 4 priorities (BCV, BWV, VWL, BLT). He told me that at the time deposits had only been made thru the beginning of Aug. And basically told me that if it were up to him he would hold tight bc he felt strongly that it was very likely I would be matched.

I called again last week and the guy that I spoke to was totally helpless and told me that they have no way of telling where I am on the wait list or when the next DVC deposit will be. He said that he can't tell me anything more than my current OG.

We have stayed at the fountains and agree - it is a beautiful resort. But being that we are going with friends it would be FAR more convenient to all be staying on property.

I didn't even think about having them add me onto the reservation so that we get free parking...that's a GREAT idea if we do wind up at the Fountains. Thanks

For our family the DDP is still worth it - we don't leave the park during the day or go off property and we use all of the meals and snacks. I compared it price-wise to what we would pay out of pocket and it still saves us money (plus helps us budget for our food costs in advance).

Something else to consider may be the TIW card. TIW= Tables in Wonderland.
If you have an annual pass or are a FL resident, it's only $100 for the card and
you get a 20% discount in most of the table service restaurants.
You also get free valet parking when dining.

If you have a big clan it's usually a better deal than the DDP.
It's good for up to 10 people and includes drinks.
You pick up the card at Downtown Disney at the Guest Services line.
Can also pick it up at all the theme parks at guest services.

                            !
I own BGVC and have travelers plus.
OP, when you have travelers plus, you have access on line to RCI weeks deposits and RCI points deposits which are a different inventory of deposits in RCI. So this is a good thing for you

Unit size......This is an interesting question for Bluegreen owners. Because we use a fixed crossover grid, it is VERY different then a regular search using TPUs. With TPUs, if your search matches it means you were next in line AND had enough TPUs to get the unit. So if you are next in line and have 20 TPUs but the Resie requires 22, you will not get it and they move on to the next person.

Using the crossover grid via the portal, it is a fixed number of BG points for each Resie. So if I. Was requesting a 1 BR that costs 13,000 BG points and was confirmed into a 2 BR that required 20,000 BG points I would not be happy. My plan for those other 7,000 points was to reserve a studio in Aruba for a week in January.

Because of this, I think you should change your "old" search back to 1 BR and add SSR and OKW to that search as well because it is old. As you saw on TUG, people are already matching for your time frame.

One more question - will I get matched if I don't show enough available Pts ?

Bc I made the fountains reservation as a back up (which I will cancel of I get matched) - currently I don't have enough points.
