No, you will not match. You need to have the points in your account.
Just as in my example above for regular RCI exchanges, if you do t have the points, you will not match and the unit will pass on to the next person.

EDIT. After checking BGVC FAQ I found out this was incorrect info. See below.

Unfortunately, this should have been the first question you asked.
      Sorry.
      Hmmmmmm, maybe not!

From FAQ, Making Exchanges on the BG website.

      "
      7. When I book a reservation on the RCI website, how long will it take for the Points to be deducted from my Bluegreen account?
Points will be deducted from your Bluegreen account within two business days of the day you make your reservation. You will be held responsible for the re-payment of any Points used that exceed your available Bluegreen Point balance.

So MAYBE you will be okay.....it seems to allow you "re-pay" the points.
In your case, you would immediately cancel the fountains Resie to make those points available for the RCI Resie.

Another option I imagine would be to borrow next years points by prepaying the MF.

I had not looked at this scenario before. Live and learn!

I think I will try calling this morning to make sure and hopefully get a knowledge rep that knows what they are talking about.

Honestly, don't call. Because this is explained in the FAQ, this is how it WILL happen. Chances are the rep will not be familiar with this process because it would happen so infrequently they will not give you accurate information.

OK - So I just got off the phone with the rep.... she confirmed that for bluegreen owners - the points DO NOT have to be in your account in order to get matched. She said that once you get matched then you can call BG to pay for MFs in advance to get next year points or cancel a previously made reservation to get the pts back in your acct.

Also - she confirmed that the Bluegreen RCI OGs only search the weeks inventory and that the only way to search the points inventory is to look manually everyday.

Lastly - she she that as far as she could tell DVC has NOT yet deposited for the week of Aug 21st.

Wow, I am impressed you got such a knowledgeable person. Did you call BGVC or BG/RCI?

                I called this number:

"To get started, simply click the link below to be taken directly to your personalized RCI account or call RCI directly at 800.445.0088."

It is especially if you live close by and want to eat there a lot.
I barely broke even this year since I'm on a special diet so I'm a cheap date now.

Glad you got your answer. I was mistaken about it matching to RCI points.
Apparently it's like any regular RCI points account you can only match against weeks inventory with those too otherwise you gotta be on the
site 10 months in advance. Just a little trick, apparently some of these developers have access to some points inventory ahead of the rest of us
lowly RCI points members. I was able to book an RCI points reservation 13 months in advance thru my Hilton Grand Vacation HGVC/RCI portal.
My RCI confirmation said RCI points which is why I know that these developers have a special deal with RCI for RCI points inventory.
I'm sure it's because they are giving RCI points some pretty nice stuff.
Many of the HGVC resorts only show stuff in RCI points not weeks so I'm sure that is something to do with it.

It's also good for DVC members too just in case I haven't yet convinced you that you should look at DVC.
You also get a discount on the Annual Passes thru DVC ownership.

It looks like it puts a hold on the unit.
Must be some developer deal because I think you can do this with HGVC and DVC points too.
So yes, live and learn. Always something new in the timeshare world.

I don't think they are done with the deposits though and I'm sure a lot of holds will expire so keep checking manually just in case.

I find the BG and Wyndham RCI reps to be much better than the run of the mill RCI reps.
I think they are promoted to that position once they know more than the others.
They can do things the regular reps cannot like moving weeks between accounts.
The regular reps just give you a "Huh?", there will be a charge for that.
I don't think so transfer me pleeeeeeze.

so are you saying that I missed the boat on the OGS being that the initial deposit has been made ... so now my main focus should be on manual searches ?? if so - what are the HOT times to do the manual searches (so that I'm not going crazy and searching 400 times a day

I wish I could but I haven't won the lotto yet.
Check back with me after I go to Vegas next week, maybe things will be different.

I wouldn't give up just yet.
Disney tends to drip in deposits so you never know when you will match but the bulk will be 5-6 months in advance.
August is just at 6 months so give it another month before panicking but I would definitely keep checking a few times a day.
RCI does seem to have times when the system gets updated.
Many believe it is after midnight but I'm no expert on this since I don't really obsess about exchanges.

I usually just check back and often a few times a week and also if I see some sightings will try to see if I can see it.
Many times it's gone if the sightings were done early in the AM when our resident sighter likes to do her work.
I guess you can say that you probably need to be either a night owl or an early bird.
Once everyone else wakes up all you see is ghost inventory.

FYI, when doing manual searches, if you get what you want and confirm. The fee for RCI points week is $159, for a "regular" week it is $209.

What a terrifically informative thread! I had a vague idea of how it all works before, but I feel much more confident about it now. Thanks, everyone. Hopefully it'll still work this way when I get around to making use of the information.
