However, before I confirm - I wanted to check with all of you experts on something. It is also showing as available on the points side as well. Will they allow me to confirm using the points side instead of confirming my OGS ... so that I leave the OGS open in case something else matches ?
DVC has certainly changed their deposit patterns the past year.

    Glad you made the match.

I'm sort of glad this happened to be honest.
It irks me to no end, that all the good units were going to RCI instead of being available to owners.
I can understand last minute deposits and off season but prime season was just so unfair to us DVC owners.
And the worst part was seeing them plastered all over ebay.

BG and Wyndham doesn't do this.
I rarely see the good BG stuff on RCI and never in prime season.
I'm glad but then again sad cause I wanted an AKV unit for F & W for myself.

This gives me hope for a 2 bedroom in November! Pixie dust appreciated!

I have often thought that, if I owned DVC, I'd be pretty irked to see some of those prime weeks on RCI as well. It's about time the Powers That Be at DVC paid a bit more attention to what owners want. Then again, it may have taken them a while to get a handle on that -- for instance, I get the impression that DVC owners skew more towards studios than I would have guessed. I am amazed the number of DVC owners going with two kids or more who are happy to get a studio and hate having to "settle" for a 1 BR. I think of myself as pretty frugal, and we generally get two bedrooms even with our five kids, but I'd never pick a studio over a 1 BR. Although I suspect I'm closer to a typical Timesharer than I am to a typical DVC owner.

I suspect that DVC owners tend not to be typical timesharers -- they are less interested in the extra space, ability to shut a door, and the kitchen, for starts. I also think Disney underestimated the appeal of the Food and Wine Festival, and of the first few weeks of December, both of which seem bigger draws for DVC people than for most out-of-town visitors, which IMHO was pretty predictable. Obviously, if you're buying into DVC, you plan to go to the parks right regular, meaning the special events become a bigger draw. Still, Disney could have figured all that out some years back, so it surprises me how long "prime weeks at prime resorts" have been floating around on RCI. Although they may have been skewing things more toward Saratoga Springs for a while, I suppose, and the strength of that skew is only showing up more now because RCI people who "wanted to give DVC a try" and were open to anywhere have already tried Saratoga Springs and aren't interested in staying there again, meaning a lot more of those weeks are not being matched.

Over the years, I've gotten a few "unicorns" via exchange. Perhaps the best example was a BCV 1BR during Food & Wine in '12. Try as I might, I can't begrudge Members having more access to those opportunities.

Wow, this tread has been so helpful. I have learned a ton about trying to make a RCI-DVC reservation
