I am thinking about buying a Bluegreen vacation package. I have owned timeshare in the past. What advice can you give me? Thanks.

Buy resale for pennies on the dollar.
Tell us a bit more about how you vacation and we can offer you advice.

I am a different person, but also looking to buy. I have never owned a timeshare. I am 48, single female w one grown kid. I am self employed so can travel when I want. They offered 10,000 points for $20,000. 2 Extra full weeks every year for first 3 years, too. Annual Fees are $850 + the other $200 or so makes it $1050.
I would like to go to Montana, Aspen, Manhattan Club, New Orleans, Hawaii. I might find other places interesting; I haven't traveled much on the eastern seaboard. I might try the other places for enticing my family (mom, son, brother(s)) to go on family vacations. I like getting the member rates for non points travel, so I can spend $59 to $99 per nite.
Is that a good price for points?
I am trying to figure out how much and how many years I would have to use it to make sure the purchase price works out. I also want to be able to unload it if things change. I wonder even if I have gotten enough value, if I could unload it at some point for $1.
I look forward to any suggestions!

I think my best value is in the bonus time. I like the idea of being able to vacation in certain places for $59 or $79 a night, and I am flexible on travel times.
Does anyone know if I can purchase someone else's bluegreen package with bonus time, and what sites are good ones to look at? I have looked at ebay but that looks like points only. I want to avoid paying the upfront fee, since I heard it might have $0 value.

I am a Bluegreen owner that finds value in the Travelers Plus, RCI nightly Stays/Points inventory and bonus time.
BUT, you do. Not need to buy from Bluegreen directly to get those benefits.
Here is a current listing on Pinnacle Vacations website This is NOT my listing
Notice how it says With Charter Benefits....so for the minimum purchase at $1.25 per point (you should offer to pay $2500) you will get all the bells and whistles you would get from buying directly thru BG.
Once this ownership is closed and your Bluegreen account is set up, you then purchase on the resale market the amount of points you would really like. 15,000-20,000 is a nice number. These points will be added to your account and they will all be treated the same
The one caveat is that all your points should be in the same trust fund. As the Soundings is a newer resort, it is most likely trust fund e. By having all in the same trust fund, you pay one base fee of $330 and then about $0.508? Per point in maint. Fees.
Others say the charter benefits are not worth it, this is for you to decide.

If you buy from Pinnacle, any points can be charter points if you pay the $1.25.
If you are looking to get into the locations such as Aspen, they take a lot of points. The 10,000 or 20,000 point packages are not enough. In the lowest season, a 1 bedroom in Aspen will cost 19,000 points. That same 1 bedroom goes up to 40,000 points at the highest value season.
Better to buy points cheap if you want that access, otherwise you are spending a lot of money in hopes you can get in.Don

You only get bonus time at your home resort if you buy resale. In your case, this would be Aruba
You can only get Travelers Plus if you buy direct from BG or qualified points thru Pinnacle.
I frequently use my TP benefits which gives me access to RCI points but I agree with others that spending 20K to get this is not worth it.
