  • Anyone familiar with new BG sales tactic called "Estate Planning?

    Hi,
Against our better judgment, my wife and I attended a sales update. We hadn't attended for several years but got sucked in by the body snatcher and decided to attend. We are Platinum owners grandfathered in with platinum benefits with most of our purchases through resale. We have purchased one time directly from BG with the rest through resale. We have enough points for our travels and have been fairly pleased with our ownership. We still have teenage children so we will be doing family vacations for the next 4-5 years. We rent to family and friends from time to time but we use most of our points ourselves.
Here is the pitch we received:
Add points to create 3 separate "Gold" memberships underneath of our platinum ownership that would give us the ability to eventually split the gold membership and transfer that separately with full charter benefits to another person(for example our children). They told us that we would still have just one base fee and nothing would change with our maintenance fees or our current platinum account. It would simply give us the ability to separate our account down the road and transfer full Bluegreen benefits to the transferee.
My wife and I are seriously kicking this around but would like to hear from others that might have come across this same proposal. What are we missing here?

Thank you all in advance for your help!

Call Bluegreen directly and find out if this is true. Then decide.

Sounds to me like a new idea to get you to overpay for more points.

I sort of agree with Tony.

If you divided your ownership into three separate "pieces" or ownerships for your children, they each would have to pay the base fee....you would not as the current owner but if it is split in any way, they definitely would.

As your children are teenagers, I would not be rushing to do anything.

I am platinum thru Pinnacle purchase plus have added resale. My DD is now 29 and has expressed an interested in my BG ownership. I purchased a 4K Solara Surfside on eBay for $159 all in and added her name to the contract. She now appears on my ownership profile as an owner and has all the benefits of a Platinum owner.

I say wait 10 years and see what they want, maybe one of three will be interested enough to take the time to learn the system and want to maintain the ownership.

Just another excuse to get you to buy more points now.

Thank you all for the responses. I have heeded your advice and passed on the offer. The most intriquiung part of the offer is that I would have the ability to sell off those memberships with full charter benefits to the new owner. As we are Platinum owners with additional resale points, it was attractive to me to have an exit strategy where I could possibly get some value back from my points vs giving them away or paying someone to take them off my hands if/ when I decide to exit Bluegreen. I am sure the offer was too good to be true but I guess that is how they get people to buy more points.
              Thank you

You are NOT able to sell the ownerships with full charter benefits....unless you sell thru Pinnacle Vacations at $1.25 per point.

It would be HIGHLY unlikely that you would be able to do this.

The "for example our children" is pretty much the only example where the full benefits would transfer and as it is now it would still transfer that way now as Platinum as long as you transfer enough benefit eligible points to remain at that level to your children collectively as one account or to one child as a single account.

I actually didn't realize a person could already transfer to a child with charter benefits. That is good to know.

Again, thank you everyone for your feedback.

The closest I have heard of this was a salesman telling me one of his customers that week had upgraded to triple platinum, so each of his kids could have 1 platinum membership.
