Ok, first let me say I wish I had read all of the advice on this board a year ago before I bought into BG. If I had I probably wouldn't have bought biennial points, ugh! The way it's set up now is that I have two accounts worth 5K points each. But the 10K points are only given to me every other year. The really bad part of this is that I pay fees and dues annually, ugh ugh!! So, my question is, other than paying full retail through BG is there any way to upgrade them to single annual account? I know I'll have to pay for more points, probably, or just convert everything to an annual account and pay more. I really want this to workout and am open to suggestions.

Hi Greg, thanks for responding. I got it wrong. I was thinking I was paying maintenance fees on 10K points every year, which is not the case. I checked with BG and am paying fees on 5K every year. So I'm now wondering why BG set up two biennial accounts and not one? Just an FYI, we initially took this approach to reduce the cost per point which I think we got a good deal on for retail. However, getting 10K points every other year essentially allows us one limited trip every other year, which is actually fine with us. By limited I mean our options are limited since some resorts would require more than 10K points in peak season (obviously we wouldn't be going to Aspen). So I have two questions: 1) is there any benefit into combining the two accounts into one biennial account?, and 2) if we stick with two biennial accounts should I buy points (from a re-seller or full retail?) for both accounts or just one?

This makes it less likely that you will do that, allowing those time slices to go into the pool for everyone. This is better for bluegreen, but reduces your value slightly. Maybe I wear a tin hat
Can you elaborate on what you mean by 2 accounts? I have multiple point contracts, but only one account. If you have two accounts, you could be paying more then you need to to. Do you mean you have 1 account, that holds two contracts (deeds), or you actually have 2 accounts each with 1 contract (deed).

What I mean by two accounts is when I login to Bluegreen's website I see two accounts, or two different account numbers. I'll have to go back and look at the paperwork but it must be for two deeds. Both are for two different weeks at Horizons at 77th in Myrtle Beach. With 5k points each I doubt they are each for an entire week, like you said. Obviously this all reflects an ignorant owner, me. So I'm grateful for your assistance.

With small contracts like this (10K in total), your costs are exactly the same, and you have a small advantage over a 5K annual contract. If you wanted to travel to a 10K reservation, with 5K annually, you would be forced to travel in red or below, or borrow ahead. At least with the biannual account, you get 10K points all at once, and can use all 10K in high red in the first year. I would leave it as it is, and revisit it if you ever decide to add more points.

In thinking back as to why we signed up it was really to just take the kids to the Fountains in Orlando for Disney when they get older and to have access to Bonus Time. (We're also going to Shenandoah this Fall.) So for now what we have works but we will probably add points down the road, just to open our options a little. At least for now I'm thinking about it and have time to research it properly before we buy. It really helps to have knowledgeable people like yourself providing advise.
