  • Total BG Owners 2013 & 2016. Broken into ownership levels (Premier)

I found this information on the Bluegreen Yahoo group and thought I would share it.

It is interesting how the numbers have changed over a two year period.

    People are still buying retail.

    FROM YAHOO GROUP

The premier owners at BG has gone up quite a bit in the past couple of years. Gold and Platinum owners are up over 400% Their sales techniques appear to be working to get to those premium levels. I wonder how many will keep upgrading when they start seeing their benefits reduced or eliminated at the whim of BG?

Here are the numbers I received from BG :
Thank you for contacting Bluegreen Vacations. We are happy to assist you with your Bluegreen ownership.

2016. 68K out of 198K members have premier status.
2113 18K out of 170K members have premier status.

Hard to believe this is true!

That is a huge increase in 2 years, end of 2013 to start of 2016. I wonder if that is accurate?

I seen that too. It seems almost unbelievable growth.

we went to Solara Surfside over weekend, and concierge didn't ask us to do the update. I think we are too old.

Possibly, but you only stayed two nights I believe. No time to schedule you.

what was really strange was that the receptionist, the concierge and others seemed to recognize us, we were there two years ago but we behaved ourselves that time. the staff there is very nice.

The 2013 numbers do not add up to 170,000. More like 17,000.

                Something is definitely wrong.

The 170,000 is total owners. Not all owners are premium (Bronze-Platinum) owners.
For 2013, about 10% of the total owners were premium owners where the most recent numbers show over 1/3 of the total ownership are premium owners.

Question for the group....(Disclaimer, I am not a metal owner, if ~all~ my points were qualified, I would be gold, but since most of my points are aftermarket..I am a black sheep ...off topic, I was called that at an owner update in Savannah!)

Reading the tea leaves, I think BG is getting ready for another level beyond platinum, and thats the true driver of this change. If BG instituted a rule that your metal benefits only applied to reservations fully backed by your qualified points...How would that affect your BG experience?

Wyndham threatened that change but was unable to come up with tracking software to associate the points with the reservations in the precise way needed for that change. As long as they allow points to qualified and unqualified points to exist in a single account I don't see that level of tracking happening with bluegreen. I also think the number of metal level owners with additional unqualifed points isn't great enough to make the change cost effective.

For the true black sheep bluegreen experience, you could be a deeded week owner without any points like me.

Looking at the BG web interface, and specifically the points section, they seem very adept at determining which contract to take points from first, based on expiration dates for seasons, and saved points, etc. I dont see it being a huge leap for them (Since they know which backing deed the points came from) to track this.
