  • Just bought in

Hey everyone. Me and my wife just purchased 16,000 points from the M.B. office. We are going to be "deeded" at the Fountains in Fla. I am a little confused after reading some post on this board and others to whether or not we made the right choice. I can cancel by Tuesday 15-Aug. We closed on Friday 11-Aug. I had been pretty excited up until today when we got back and I started doing some research. We were also given 6 weeks of FREE exchanges (no points, only the transfer fee), two per year for the next 3 years. We also got a cruise (4 day 3 nights) and unlimited bonus nights. The points will role over every year. The roled over points must be used towards non peak stays. What do you guys think? Any input would be appriciated. By the way, we are paying cash for half. I also found 14,000 points on EBAY for $3,600.00. Sounds about like the same package.

OK, since no one has chimed in yet let me be the first. You should probably cancel (rescind), do some more "homework", and watch the market for a much better price. You didn't mention how much you paid, but it is likely way more than necessary.

I am not knowledgeable about Blue Green, so I don't know their resale costs in particular, but in general, those extra perks are not worth the extra amount you are paying.

I am sure that many more people with far greater know how than I will help out, but I would recommend rescinding. Be sure that if you do, you follow the exact directions in your contract.

Welcome to the Board and to timesharing!

I am new to all this. But based on everything I have read on this board and elsewhere, I believe the resale is the way to go. But then I am sure there will be others with a lot more experience in timeshare who will provide you with the input you are looking for.

I personally would cancel the contract and look for resale. Possibly even renting once or twice before making the plunge.

Thanks for the info. I am will continue my research for a day or two. I paid less than $1.25 per point if that helps. At this point, I can't find a package that big on resale. And the ones I do find aren't much cheaper per point. Unless I am missing something.

        Thanks again for your opinion!

          WiZa,

How many points are you looking for? You should be able to find Bluegreen Points for between $.40-50/point pretty easily.

I haven't finished closing yet, I just bought a package of 11,000 points per year, total cost counting closing will be $5500, And I believe I could have done better with a little work.

I would like to work with around 16000. That seems to get me where I would like to go. Have you guys got any links to current listings? Or should I just cancel and wait for something to come up?

I am not real familiar with Bluegreen, but if it works like FF you could possibly purchase 2 smaller resales to come up with a total point package that you are looking for.

Yes, I would cancel and then wait for a good deal on eBay or through a broker. I feel like the better deals come along in the fall and winter (especially Dec/Jan/Feb when people have to pay their mt. fees); the resale prices seem higher. I have seen large Bluegreen packages on eBay and bidshares.

                    WiZa,

You can look on eBay to find some good deals on Bluegreen Points. If you would like some help sorting it out, let me know and I would be delighted to help you out.

I am not in anyway promoting this ebay seller, just want you to see what is available out there in the .45 range that BocaBum mentioned. This is just one of several Bluegreens presently listed on ebay.

I saw 20,000 points sell on ebay for about $9,500. I am in closing on 12,000 for about $0.40 per point plus I got 12,000 points included for free. I suggest you rescind and purchase resale and get more points for less money.

Bluegreen is a great system. However, resale is the way to go...rescind now. If you choose to buy directly from Bluegreen later, that deal will still be there. Hang around here and do a little research. Then, you can make a better informed decision on the best package for you and your family.

Keep the receive. You should expect to see your deposit get returned or refunded in probably a month or 1 1/2.

Make sure you know what you need to look for on a resell offer, and what you should need to check these infomation before you really put a bid.

Look at eBay, redweek, myresortnetwork. Boca has an excel file that list the eBay completed sale history and what he think is important attributes in resell in this forum. Hopefully it is carried in the new upgrade, if not, ask him about that file.
