  • Advise & Oppinions about Hershey Bluegreen Auction

Why I would consider buying a timeshare that is about 1.5-hrs from home is beyond me but my life is a complicated one and I am considering it...

It is an auction on ebay and here is the link:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=300022020097

I am a little confused, the auction is described as a fixed week but it sounds like it is a floating or perhaps even points based system.

Now, we toured here a few years back and the retail on these units was in the $20,000-plus range and I recalled it to be a Gold Crown resort. The maintence fees at the time seemed very high (over $1000/yr as I recall)...

I don't really have the money right now but we are interested in this unit as we have family in that area, we lived in the immediate area for years, and we have owned Hershey Park passes for many years as well... It is about 1.5-hr drive for us as well...

We could use this for a year or two and then take our points and do some trading... I recall that as owners at the resort we could come in and use the facilities as well, even if we were to trade out, and while that is a long drive it would be a possibility.

I just don't know enough about bluegreen to make an educated decision and I only have 2-weeks vacation so the week we own at Killington plus the week at Shawnee covers us but we want to sell the Shawnee unit to get something we can possibly trade.

I probably should be looking for a 2-begroom w/loft or 3-BR unit so I am not seriously considering this (if I were, I would not be posting links huh) but it is a resort I have been watching and I would like to see what the experts can share...

    Thanks!
    Ken

1.5 hrs drive from the home is great, Would you rather take a plane? This resort is a hard trade to get into during summer months. Week 23 if I am not mistaken is not a July week so be sure your kids are off from School at that time.

This is a fixed week 23 in the Suites at Hershey. The maintenance fees are understated. I just looked up the 2005-2006 MF and it is listed at $460, which isn't bad for a 2 bedroom unit. But, it's higher than the $400 in the listing. And, it may have gone up for 2006-2007. Due Diligence.

Buying that property may get you access to bonus time at the Suites at Hershey. Call up the resort and get someone from owner services to check. If you do get it, it's worth bidding on especially if you live close to the resort.

Week 23 starts around June 10th (at least 2006) so if we used it as a fixed week trip that would be a possible concern and we would prefer a late summer vacation...
