  • Getting very upset...

... with the service from Resort Closings and Bluegreen themselves. I purchased a points package on ebay, the auction ended May the 31st. On June 6th, the file was opened and I can view the progress on their website, and I was contacted by my agent. She sent out papers, and I signed and returned 2 day mail. She claims they never arrived, which she did not tell me until I called her late in JULY. I was trying to be patient as they told me up front 45 - 60 days to close. So she resends docs, and I sign and overnight back. On August 3rd she posted on the site that she sent docs and fee to Resort Title to finish transfer. I waited two weeks and called again. This was her response:

    Hi Nate,

I spoke with Bluegreen this morning and they confirmed that they had received everything that they needed from us. As far as I know they will then draft another document that will need to be signed by you before the transfer is complete. We have been trying to get Bluegreen to allow us to draft this as they take FOREVER, but so far we have had no luck. At this point we just have to wait for them to complete things on their end. Sorry that I couldn’t give you any better news, but I will let you know as soon as I do.

Aug 23 I emailed asking if there was anything I could do to help speed things up. NO answer. Aug 31 I email again stating I was starting to worry and really wanted to hear back. NO answer. I started calling Bluegreen and their Title department. I have left two messages with the woman in charge of resale closings. NO answer. I have left a message with the department head, no answer. Nobody in that office has even answered the phone. Just voicemails all around. The people at the main Bluegreen number just keep telling me they are sorry and then transfer me again to this office in Florida.

I am I crazy or is this in bad form?

    Needed to vent.. sorry.

    That sounds very frustrating!

I think I've heard before that Bluegreen is slow to close. Others with more experience can probably tell you for sure.

The good news is, nothing that you've told me makes me think the deal won't go through -- just that things are being slow. I've heard of closings taking even longer. It is a real estate transactions, so it can take a while.

      Nate,

There are 2 problems going on in your transfer. The first is that you are using Resort Closings and the second is that Resort Title had a personnel change in July.

Whenever you purchase Bluegreen points, you should always request that closing be performed directly by Resort Title. The transfer is only $225 which includes resort transfer, escrow and full closing documents. If your seller uses somebody else, it's because they have a special deal with that closing company which is not needed. You will basically go through and pay for 2 closings. One with the closing company and the other with Resort Title.

The second is that the person who normally handles resale closings at Resort Title took a new assignment and so the new team is coming up to speed slowly and they have a tremendous backlog. I'm not sure why you are not getting a response. Are you sure you are calling Resort title? I spoke to them today and I got right through.

      Good luck.

I already knew that I didn't want to use Resort Closings as they were just a middle man, but I felt the deal I was getting was exactly what I was looking for both substance and price, and decided to go for it. I know I am dealing with Resort title.. Bluegreen transfers me to their office which I want to say is in Boca Raton.. somewhere in FL. I have left messages with two different people.. No response. I am going to try again tomorrow. I have bought and sold real estate before, and it never took quite this long. I have my ducks in a row.. The other side does not it seems..

        Thanks

Resort Title is swamped. They have never been fast but I think there has been A LOT of activity this summer. They do the job but just not fast.

My purchase in April took stinking forever, also. Keep calling and leaving messages. I also never got a callback, but, documents would show up.

I know this is frustrating, but try to be patient. Getting angry with them will not help your case. Express worry instead. When I finally called in and said, "hey, these points expire in 30 days! I need them in my account!" I got action.

            Good luck.

I was still getting nowhere, so I had my brother in law who is an attorney call and leave messages with both Blugreen and RC, to let them know I would be looking to cancel the sale. I had final docs in my email about three hours later. Hated to got that route, but this has just taken too long. Signed what I got and sent back. We shall see how long this takes from here.

September is one of the slowest months of the year. So, they should be catching up on paperwork now.

You think you've had a long closing. I am still trying to close one that I started and paid for in January. The problem I had was the closing in South Carolina. Yuck. Never again.

South Carolina does take forever. We have a few units there and it is the county that takes a long time to process. However, you can look yours up at this link to see if it's been done. You should note though that this site gets updated quite a bit before you actually get your deed back.

                      Excuses

I got my deed back from the TS closing company August 31st. I cannot imagine what kind of paperwork could take two months.

I'll drive down and do it for them if they want.

Then I talked with my closing company who also called them for me. They do have the deed but it will take another 6-8 weeks to get it done.

                      Unbelievable.

Are they as flexible when maintenance fees come around. Will they give me a four month grace period?

Suggestion to bluegreen- Send the paperwork to the owners have them fill it out and send it back. Hey maybe we could take a month or 3 months off the turnaround time.
