  • Gifting Points??

I was hoping for some help here because I know the corporate offices are probably closed until Tuesday. We want to gift our points for next year to a family that has just experienced an awful tragedy. Does anyone know how this works? We would prefer that we could just give the family the points in some way for the year so that they could make arrangements at a time and place convenient for them without having to go through us. Is this done?

    Any input is most appreciated.

    Thanks,

    D.

The only way to do this is if you trust your relatives and have them call in and pose as you. Then, they can check for availibility with the reservation line and book something up to the total number of points you give them.

Otherwise, you need to add them to your account at the cost of $125. And then, they can call in anytime, but they will be joint owners of your account. Probably not what you want long term.

Yeah, you're better off making the reservation and putting their name on it right then.

You could first call for availability for Spring Break or whatever and tell them, "I'd like to send you to FunCity for the week of ..... My treat - can I do this for you?"

You can always cancel the reservation later.

Be aware, sometimes these things can turn into a big pain in the butt. trying to be nice to Mom and give her a week somewhere turned into last minute desires for prime time/locations - people don't understand how these things work. I'd suggest throwing out 3 possibilities that you know are available and get their acceptance on one.

This is a lucky family to have a friend like you.

Good luck - you know that no good deed goes unpunished.
