    OK OK,
I have been reading alot here, and I want to 1st say HI. You seem to be very helpful, so here goes my questions.
I purchased 8000 point every other year package for 8800$, through BG at in charleston sc, and honestly I dont really care about the amount of points and the money I spent, I like the unlimited bonus nights, and unlimited getaways vacations... Im guessing I should cancel and buy them somewhere else, but will I get the unlimited bonus nights, and getaway weekends.

next question is I really feel like this is some kind of scam...it sounds too good to be true, unlimited getaway at various locations world wide, through RCI, for next to nothing cost... IS it really this easy? and am I really going to enjoy this? My wife and I vacation 7nights annually. With about 4-5 small 3day weekend trips... Is this the deal for us? Again I dont care I spent the 8800, I just want this to work like its supposed to...
    please help
    thanks

    1. if you can cancel, do so. Resales do still enjoy bonus night privileges.
    2. I'm assuming the "getaway weekends" are through RCI. I haven't heard of these -- RCI does sell last-minute inventory as well as other opportunities, some of which are cheap. The prices range quite a bit and all of them are for full weeks. I'm not aware of any vacation opportunities through RCI that is NOT a full week. The desirability of any of these "extra vacations" depends on you -- personally, I'm not interested in northern Scotland in the dead of winter, nor do I want to go narrowboating in January. There haven't been many RCI Extra Vacations or Last Minute Calls that I've been tempted to take.
    3. Bonus nights, which are a BG perk, are the real deal -- if there's availability (which is easy to check online). IMO, availability for bonus nights is actually not too bad.

We vacation both in full weeks and in long weekends. If you can stick to BG resorts, then weekends can be quite easy (although they are also the quickest way to burn through points). We've enjoyed partial weeks at Lodge Alley and Christmas Mountain. We also enjoy our European getaways (we were in England and Germany this year with RCI exchanges), where we tend to spend full weeks.

FYI: If you do purchase resale, there's no reason to go with RCI as your exchange company. I've become a big fan of SFX. This year, I've been able to stretch our 13000 points into 4 weeks of vacation, thanks to SFX bonus weeks. Every now and then I get tempted to buy more points (or a UDI) and then I remember I can't even use all the vacation I get from the points I already have...

I'm sure more experienced voices will pipe up, but that's my two cents...

Forget the unlimited getaways that ownership offers - you can check SkyAuction and a pile of other places where RCI dumps weeks for cheap rates to the general public. DO NOT BUY FOR THAT!

Bluegreen's Bonus Time is a good deal, and not available elsewhere. Their public rental site is bluegreenrentals.com so you can see how ownership does make a difference.

Resale or from BG direct doesn't matter, at this time. You should be entitled to all the regular perks, with the possible exception of Traveller's Plus. If TP is of value to you, you might want to keep the deal you just made as I don't believe it transfers on resale market.

        Welcome to TS4Ms

        Bryan,

Welcome to TS4Ms and our Bluegreen Forum. I am a huge fan of the Bluegreen Vacation Club forum and love to discuss the nuances of the club.

Let me describe the situation with Bonus Time.

It is absolutely true that the Bluegreen Policy is that VIP benefits, including bonus time, does NOT transfer on resale unless sold by Bluegreen or an authorized reseller of Bluegreen points. This is clearly stated in the Contract all owners must sign when they become Bluegreen owners. In addition, it is spelled out in the Multi-site Public offering statement. And, owners are reminded of this policy at every owner's update meeting. They know who you bought your timeshare from.

However, Bluegreen is NOT actively enforcing its own policy. It is also true that nobody I know has every been denied Bonus Time if they are a Bluegreen points owner. People buying points recently have all reported receiving VIP benefits.

The key question is what happens in the future? We don't know, but my guess is that Bluegreen will start enforcing their bonus time policy when they deploy their new timeshare system called timeshareware. It has been under development for 3 years. So, it may be a couple of years from now that they start enforcing it. Or, they could just start enforcing it. Who knows for sure?

The good news is that I know how to get it back. If you would like to learn how, let me know via private message or email and I'll help you out.

Once again, welcome to our Bluegreen forum and have a great time in timesharing.

one other question I have is, if and when we care to upgrade/increase our points and we have already purchased through BG direct, can we purchase our additional points from resale, and still keep the VIP status??

The answer is Yes. But then, you will have questions about preferred status. If you are interested in that, send me a pm.
