  • Mountain Loft Resort II - #8883

As I was checking some things this morning on the RCI online directory, I noticed that Mountain Loft has a Gold Rating. Upon looking a little closer, it showed Mountain Loft II and was resort #8883.

Mountain Loft #5947 still has a silver rating.

Does this mean we will see a different point structure at the new portion of Mountain Loft? Or, does RCI just rank it differently?

I looked on the Bluegreen website and didn't see a new points table for Mountain Loft, so I am hopeful.

Bluegreen currently has 6 different unit types for Mountainloft. So, in essence, the point values do vary based on location in the resort.

There is a ton of new construction going on at Mountainloft. If they build a new unit type, they will add a new point table. That's how Bluegreen manages it. When you book a week, Bluegreen allows you to know the unit you are booked in. They reserve the right to change it later, but they rarely do. This is an incredible benefit to owners. So, if you want to get an oceanview unit at a resort, you will pretty much know if you will get it when you book. Contrast that to Marriott, where you cannot choose your unit at reservation and if you exchange to a resort other than your own, you won't know what you'll get until check in.

If Bluegreen does create a new platinum level of preferred ownership, they should probably include this in that level of benefit. Or, at least Gold. That's what Fairfield does. But, they can't do it now due to their systems. We'll see what they included in their new timeshareware platform.

      Boca,
I'm not sure you understood my question.....

There are 2 Mountain Loft resorts listed on the RCI directory....one is Gold and the other is Silver...both are Bluegreen properties. I just don't understand how the same resort has different ratings.

The construction that is going on at Mountain Loft right now is the same type of units as before. My question was, do you think the new construction will have a higher point value?

Also...the last time I made a reservation...the reservationist would not give me my unit # assignment over the phone. When I received my written confirmation my unit # was not on there either.

Chances are that, There might be that one of the phases is newer than the other. Same resort same amenities but different buildings.

Ok...I will accept that on the Gold and Silver because there is a brand spanking new phase.

Now, I guess the question is....are the units that are being built different than the old ones, other than being newer? And, will point values increase for the new portion?

The newer buildings are high rises like in Laurel Crest and the older section of Mountainloft. They are right behind the townhouses.

I just called Bluegreen and they confirmed that the newer units are Gold Crown wheras the older section is Silver Crown. When I was there I thought it was a great resort and should have the Gold Crown designation. At least that's what I thought based on the outside of the buildings since I didn't stay there.

I asked about the point table used for the old villas vs. the new villas, they told me that you use the same table.

I also asked about booking a specific unit number. They said that you can, especially if you want to bank the week. So, if you want to bank a 1 or 2 bedroom Villa at Mountainloft, make sure you book in a new unit since it will be Gold Crown. This matters for RCI Points. It may not matter for RCI weeks.
