We're thinking of BC for later this winter, and we would be booking a 1 bedroom unit in the lodge. Can anyone tell me who's been there if any of them have fireplaces, and if so, are they gas or wood burning? Any other info that anyone can share about these units would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Not to pick, but you need to be clear that you are talking about Big Cedar Wilderness Club, where, yes, the 1-bedroom units are in what they call lodge buildings.
Big Cedar Lodge and Big Cedar Wilderness Club are two different things.
I assume you know that and I am saying this for those who might not.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

If I make reservations with Bluegreen points for a one-bedroom unit where will we be staying in the lodge or in the wilderness club? I too need to know the difference. I also need to know if there's anything I should specifiy in my reservation request. I don't anticipate having difficulty getting a unit at that time of year, but who knows.

You will be in the Bluegreen Wilderness Club.

So, Boca you mentioned this was your favorite Bluegreen resort since you stayed there. I assume you were in the Bluegreen Wilderness Club. If you were in the one bedroom units how would you describe them? Fireplaces? Anything special I should request when making the reservation such as a location within the one bedroom units?

What I am trying to say is that Big Cedar Lodge is a resort that has been at that location for a long time. Johnny Morris, the founder of Bass Pro bought it from the family that operated it. The original estate was built by a business magnate back in the days when business leaders were referred to as magnates.
(Back then a lot of them were in steel, so they could be magnatic!) (Ouch)
Big Cedar Lodge is not involved in timesharing and is and has been open to the public for a long time. When I had jury duty in Springfield last summer, a lady on the panel's Aunt and Uncle were the ones that ran the original Big Cedar Lodge, before Bass Pro, and this lady was not a spring chicken.
Big Cedar Lodge offers a variety of accomodations from hotel rooms to cabins to log homes going for around $700/night.
People do actually come to Big Cedar Lodge and pay those kinds of rates. A lot of businesses book meetings and conventions there or send employees there as a perk. Dignitaries stay there when they visit Branson, like Regis and Kathy Lee when they did some shows from here. If the Pope visited Branson, he would stay at Big Cedar Lodge. It's that kind of place.
Lately in the scheme of things, Mr. Morris and Bluegreen developed Big Cedar Wilderness Club. It is situated on the north side of Big Cedar Cove whereas Big Cedar Lodge is located at the end and on the south side of Big Cedar Cove. Big Cedar Wilderness Club has a clubhouse with an indoor pool, lazy river, hot tub, fireplace reading area and that doubles as the office/checkin for BCWC.
The units are two and three bedroom cabins and studio, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom units in several large, more traditional-style timeshare buildings, which are called lodges. All decor is distinctive and unique, most of it contracted soley for Big Cedar. It is rustic and outdoorsy and expect to have a formerly living but not stuffed critter staying with you.
No one plays second fiddle anywhere in Big Cedar, timeshare or otherwise. All guests are treated top-class, including those who live just across the lake.
BCWC guests pay a $5/day amenities fee, which makes all of the pre-existing amenities available to them.
One reason I make the distinction that I am is that I recall someone saying that some timeshare outfit, I believe DVC, had a way to stay at Big Cedar Lodge, and that was before Big Cedar Wilderness Club.
Oh yeah, the first house we ever looked at on Table Rock Lake is on Big Cedar Cove, on the north side out toward the lake from BCWC. That was probably 12 to 15 years ago.
Our boat is from the Big Cedar rental fleet and they only used it there for three months.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

Here's something I've never seen mentioned about Big Cedar.
The shop in the marina is above the lake, floating I believe, and you can feed fish in the lake through a hole in the floor. They are always there waiting.
There are water features throughout Big Cedar grounds, ponds and springs crossing the road and stuff like that. There is a pond behind the swimming pool behind The Devils Pool restaurant that also has a fish feeding station. I believe that might be a kids fishing pond.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

Picture number 15 at this link is the Master Bedroom of a corner 1 bedroom unit. The suite is huge! Master bedroom and bath equal all the rest of the living area. Picture #17 is of the living room and Picture 14 is of the kitchen and dining. #7 is off the porch looking onto Table Rock Lake and JLB's property.
