  • Shorecrest dilemna?

I'm looking at Shorecrest for June, not this coming. My dilemna is I have 12,000 points/yr anniversary March 1. So if I understand this correctly the only way to get a week in June is to book it 11 months out in July with borrowed points (example if I had 12,000 points 3-1-07 and called in July they would be saved points for a June 08 booking). Is this correct?

Our school does get out early in June so I could just squeek by on getting the last red week 23, but that's also the yr my oldest graduates so I'm thinking it won't be possible with graduation parties for that yr. So this leaves the dilemna of I don't have enough pts for a week in high red except for a 1 bedroom. My question is are all the 1 bedrooms in Shorcrest 2 since they don't break them down into oceanview/oceanfront?

Not to totally overthink this what if I got a partial week so I'd have enough pts for a 2 bedroom. First question is how are my chances of one being available for a Sat-Thurs booking? Second question is again the date dilemna. 5 months out from June is January and my anniversary is March, so again I'd have to borrow except now I'd have just paid my maintenance in Nov and would have to pay again in Jan or could I borrow in Oct but not book until Jan?

Any help on how to best use my pts is sincerely appreciated. I just want to stay at Shorecrest (preferably with oceanview/oceanfront) and tho I don't mind a 1BR I also wouldn't have any use for the left-over 4,000 pts if I got a 1 BR (that I can think of).

    Thanks, Calie

I can't answer directly about how you do it in Bluegreen but in most point based TS companies you don't have to borrow.

To make a reservation using points received in March for a May week. You call ~11 months ahead and make the reservation. The company knows to use points which will be placed in your account in March for the May reservation. No need to borrow.

If I have this wrong please correct me.

      Calie,

You have your options correctly understood. In order to book June of 2008, you will need to prepay your 2008 maintenance fees prior to Oct 1, 2007. Then and only then will you be able to use a maximum of 12000 points to book a high red season reservation for June 2008.

Even if you want to attempt to book a 5-night reservation in January of 2008, you need to prepay your maintenance fees by Oct 1. If you wait until January to prepay, then you can't access your points which become available on Mar 1 until March 1. Or, get this, you need to prepay 2009 mf to access those 2008 points before your anniversary date. This rule is quite annoying and I am trying to get it eliminated. It makes no sense. One of the few major faults in BG.

Your best bet is to partner with someone like me who is a gold preferred owner. I'll book whatever unit you want by getting on the wait list in May of 2007 for June of 2008. I'll be number 1-3 on the waitlist which will ensure that I can just about anything for you.

Then, just pay me back as you have points available for high red season.

Please note. I only do this for my best friends on this board since it is risky for me. But, I'll do it for people who I know personally on this board and who bake me cookies. LOL.

Maybe, I'll do it for a 15% points surcharge or something. Just enough to cover the hassle factor.

That's a very generous offer. I can think of many ways that could be useful including some sort of deal to "rent" 15,000 pts for the 2 br oceanfront from you in return for you "renting" my 12,000 so I'm really only renting the difference plus commission (just as a thought off the top of my head).

I'll keep it in mind and let you know. Right now I'm not sure exactly what we're doing and something else just came up that might mean renting those points again
