Since I have received different advice in the past, I want to confirm that the information I have received from Owner Services recently is accurate. I am a Silver BGVC member. I had booked three 2 bedrooms on the same floor in the same lodge at Big Cedar WC during the preferred window between 11 and 12 months. At six months out from the reservations I asked to be put on a waitlist for the reservations to be changed to three nights in the exact same units. The three nights I requested were within the week I had already reserved. I had been told by two different associates that there would not be a problem completing this waitlist request. Once the reservation hit the five month window I called to find out that my request was not filled and cannot be filled. The owner sevices representative said that the waitlist is for new reservations only and that the waitlist cannot be used to shorten existing reservations. Is this true? Obviously I can still cancel the reservations and try to re-book during the less than five month window, but am risking losing the reservation when I do this. Is there any other method to prevent the risk of losing my existing reservations when I shorten them?
First, this latest waitlist rule contradicts what I had been told previously by multiple associates. Second, I thought that the new 24 hour booking window rule at the same resort was designed to prevent in the future (once implemented) exactly what I was trying to do (and prevent the same transactions in the less than five month window). I am willing to play by the rules, so thanks for helping me make sure the most recent rule I was told is accuate.
