  • News: VIP Bonus Time and Preferred owner benefits do NOT transfer upon Resale

I just received formal notification this week and owner services has confirmed that this long awaited day has arrived. Effective Feb 21, 2007, Bluegreen VIP Bonus Time and Preferred Member benefits (Silver and Gold) will NOT transfer unless purchased through Bluegreen or a Bluegreen authorized reseller.

I am in the process of getting the exact rules and will post them here when I get them. The good news is that Bluegreen is grandfathering in existing accounts that are closed or have escrows opened as of today with Resort Title Agency.

If you are interested in learning the official methods for attaining these benefits, send me a PM and I'll put you on my distribution list for this information when I get it.

    Stay tuned.

Yep, that's been coming for a long time. I'm glad you have "an in" to get the news quickly.

So, how much pizza do you think it would take to extend this? just kidding, of course.

The reason for editing/deleting this post is because it is off topic.

      Thank you,

        Mike,

What is the issue or problem of UDI's as you see it? Just curious.

I don't know as much about UDIs as others but this is how I see it. From a business stand point it makes great sense to own a UDI to get 10-14 exchanges per year with one MF. However, with one MF for UDIs it is not equable (even with the house keeping charges) to all BG owners.

This is part of a post from a poster on Tugs.
"For what its worth, UDI's are quite useful and really are unique in what they allow you to do. I don't know many timeshares that allow you to play in all seasons with absolutely no fees for changing or cancelling reservations plus let you cover your MF, do exchanges, get RCI points, and have use the timeshare for personal use all on a single MF."

I know there are opinions on both sides of this issue but this is how I feel.

              UDI's are equitable

              Mike,

UDI's are equitable. For each physical unit there are 17 owners. Those 17 owners pay the maintenance on the unit. The rest of the Bluegreen owners do not pay any of the maintenance.

If each of the 17 owners made 3 reservations, the unit would be full all year. But if 6 of them decided to only do a red time reservation, that leaves 12 for Bruce. And if one more doesn't even make a reservation, that's 3 more for Bruce including a red. And if 2 of them wait til the last minute to make a reservation (Bruce has 6 more), they will find that the weeks they want are gone.

I agree with Boca, what's wrong with UDI's is jealousy.

Using resales to get Preferred status

Forgive me for returning to the topic of this thread.

Boca, when the dust has settled and you post the exact rules, be sure it answers the following question:

"Could I purchase two 16000 point resale contracts and then on my next "Owner Update", trade those in and purchase 4000 additional points from Bluegreen to give me a total of 36000 points and gold status?"

                    Charles,

The answer is "yes", but you know by now that I have a better and cheaper way to accomplish the exact same goal.

Boca, I didn't mean to hijack this thread I should have thought before I posted about UDIs. The information you have for us shouldn't be clouded by my misjudgment. I am going to delete my OP in this thread and repost it in a new one
