  • So if you had 9,000 saved points...

That will expire and go away on July 1st... What would you do? We are already going to Aruba the first week of June...

I was confused and thought that I had to book something with the points by the two year mark... oops.

So any ideas would be greatly appreciated, as I hate to see these just go away. We may take a few two day trips to Hershey or Shenandoah, as they are within driving distance, but past that, I don't know!?

    Hershey Park

If you are close to Hershey you must go. They are putting in a new section and it will be up and running this summer. It is a "mini water park". A water park within a park.

They have had rides and things before that are water related - Water soaker is a roller coaster that is water centric! It is great. I would definitely ride this one going forward. You can do it backwards too but you sometimes don't know when you will be hit with water.

Of course, you could always take a big group of people with you. You take care of accommodations and they take care of park admissions!! I've been wanting to do that with a group of friends and it just hasn't worked out yet. I'd love to be in position for this reason!!!

    Enjoy!!!

I would try to book a Christmas Mountain Village June week and deposit it with Interval International. That week trades well and gets an Accommodation certificate. Plus you can use saved points for the week. It might be fully booked, but that's what I would have tried.

Thanks... I just called and there is nothing tradeable available at all they said. So... this kinda makes me even more upset that it took 7 months to close on this deal as I am sure we would have used some of those saved points.. but what can ya do?

We had the same issue, and split it into 3- 3000 point groupings and booked 3 studios at Big Cedar that we deposited with RCI. Week 23 (2nd week in June) is the last red week before it switches to high red. I've been able to see 2 bedrooms in Orlando and Williamsburg with the weeks.

I have 5000 points that expire July 1st and they are "saved" points. I cannot find any trade available before High Red anywhere. Oh well, something will come up!

What about being a wonderful friend or relative and giving someone else a nice trip?? You can rent it out or just reserve in their name and do it gratis.

If you're going to lose the points anyway, it's worth doing something nice for someone that otherwise wouldn't be able to take a nice vacation. I had points expiring at the end of January and gave a free long weekend to a previous renter/co-worker.

That is my plan. Find as many two or three night stays and give them away!

                  For 5k points

I just snagged a house at Summer Bay for Thanksgiving week with a 5K Daytona Studio.

The poster above is also right about Hershey...it's so close to NY, that I reserved a couple of long weekends and posted them for rent on a local Bulletin Board. Both were rented within hours.

It's really a nice place to go for yourself too.
