First of all this is a great forum - awesome information. We purchased 20000 points/silver membership for $25000 last Friday, May 11. After reading through all the information and all the complaints on the web we are seriously considering cancelling the deal. I am a teacher so prime time (ultra red and up) is the only time my family can vacation.
Here are my questions:
1. Do you think I will get the value I paid for due to the cost and availablity of units during the prime weeks? (I figured 2 weeks per year for 20,000 points but when I look at the resort points, I think not.)
2. How hard is it to actually exchange bonus time for the expensive (in terms of points) weekends after you have rented a week?
3. Why wouldn't I just buy resale points?
4. Are the horror stories you find on the web representative of the majority of owners?
5. I received 2 RCI weeks per year with some serious restrictions that would render them useless because of the teacher schedule - are there ways to create value with these RCI weeks/membership?
6. Cancel or Keep?
Thank you so much for anyone who takes the time to respond.
