  • Day use

I am going to be spending a few days at Shorecrest next week, and going to the Medieval Times theatre. I was anticipating requesting day use at Harbour Lights before g0ing to the show that evening so the grandkids could experience another resort for a possible future trip. I am going to call on that day to request it, but was wondering what the odds are that it will be granted. I haven't tried to exercise the day use privilege before.

It will depend on how full they are, since their current guests get dibs on everything.

The resort should know now what their occupancy will be next week.

Thanks. I had also wondered if, since I was staying at Shorecrest, if it would be better to ask them to check for me. I am still new at all of this and trying to learn a few of the tricks of the trade. I appreciate your response.

In my opinion and experience, all BG staff are great, so it doesn't hurt to ask plenty of different staffers - you know, until you find The One that can pull the string for you!!

And, really, they get asked stuff all the time. Everyone was new once.

Have a great time down there!!

I have also had good experiences with the staff. Like you say, I HAVE learned to keep asking until you get the right one. Thanks

In my December, 2002 Public Offering Statement Text, Section 2 (Recreational Property Use), I found a statement in subparagraph (1) of each of the following paragraphs:

            G. Petit Crest Villas
            H. Falls Village
            I. Orlando Sunshine Resort II (however, the statement omits the II).
            J. Big Cedar

The statement is, "Each purchaser has the right to use these amenities at (name of resort) only during his particular use week."

I could not find a similar statement for Harbour Lights or for any other resort.

There is a general statement that allows the manager to set rules and limit use to any of the facilities so Day Use is not guaranteed.

However, I did not see anything that required one to request Day Use. I have been at resorts which are full but the pool is essentially empty in the morning and only lightly used in the early afternoon. However, come late afternoon it really picks up.

As such, I really don't know if you have to make a formal request. Has anyone ever seen such a requirement?

              I would just show up

And if anyone asks, just tell them that you are a BG owner. The worst that can happen is that they ask you to leave...I can't believe that would happen. I actually thought that, as a BG owner, that I had day use at all resorts. Who knew?

I was at the Bluegreen Web site and found the following statement for Harbour Lights:

"Day use policy: Club owners not staying at the resort must call prior to arrival to ensure availability for day use. First priority given to resort occupants. Guaranteed/flex owners refer to their association rules."

                At Shorecrest the statement is:

"Day use policy: Amenity use at the facilities, including the pools, is limited to guests staying during their scheduled dates of occupancy."

Some other resorts have similar statements and some have no statements.

So, while the information I gave earlier was correct, the inference I drew was not. Sorry. You had the right idea at the beginning.

I may have had the right idea.............but I offer the following for everyone's information. I called HL directly today and, without identifying myself, asked what the procedure would be to request a couple of hours of day use for two grandkids later this week. The answer: " We do not offer any day use at all during the peak season. This is our peak season and we will not even offer you a parking pass except to tour the resort". I asked about the AM hours during light use, and the speil was repeated verbatim. Day use at Myrtle Beach is a thing of the past (No matter what the salesmen say)..................if you ask! Looks like a hot week at the beach!
