  • Owners Update at Wilderness Club at Big Cedar

I went to an owners update meeting last week. At the update the sales person said to get Wilderness Club deeded point they would cost $3.00 per point. He definitely wanted to sale deeded points to Sea Glass Towers at $1.70 per point. I was told the difference in price was because there was very little inventory left at Wilderness Club. Is this true/false or is the difference in price because Bluegreen and Bass Pro Shop have a partnership with Wilderness Club at Big Cedar and Big Cedar Lodge.

I have not heard of difference price for different deeded points before. I was always told by sale people that points are points. Anyone else heard of this before.

I'm certainly not an authority, but it seems to me that the sales folks have great latitude in setting prices. If you are sitting @ Big C and seem to want it, why not pitch a huge price if you can close the deal? Seaglass @ 1.70 seems like a bargain after that!!!

If you truly feel that you need a Big C deed, there are cheaper ways to get it. Takes patience, research and the willingness to jump when the right deal shows up.

I, personally, treat points as points so don't care where the points are deeded. We're very unlikely to return to the same resort over and over (at least into the foreseeable future).

I wonder if this is a step in the direction of fixed weeks and deeded points for some resorts? If I want to go to BC in the Summer and stay in a cabin I will have to pay the $3.00 per point to get a summer week. Or it might be a crap shoot to get a summer cabin with only 41 cabins and no plans to build more.

It makes the resale deeded points at BC summer weeks look better if a person is set on going to BC often in the summer.

        Wilderness Club Deeds

I agree with BoardGirl's comments. In addition, I doubt that the $3 points they were selling were actually for summer week cabins. Even though BC has the partnership with Bass Pro, the points you are buying are Bluegreen just like Sea Glass. The only advantage they give you are if you want to book the exact week in your deed you have first choice around 13 months in advance.

You are better off buying cheaper points and getting to the silver or gold level so that you have the early booking privileges that would allow you to reserve early enough to get a cabin in the summer. Even cheaper than Sea Glass points are resale points, but it takes an authorized reseller to get the preferred level benefits.

Good advice. Your only benefit is that you could get that exact unit for that exact week between 11 and 12 months out. After that (11 months before that date), anyone's SeaGlass or even resale points can get that unit or week. But if that's the unit and week you want every year, then the BC purchase can make sense.

I am on the wait list for a cabin next summer. We will see how it works out.

Cabins at Big Cedar have not been hard to get as long as you book them far enough in advance of check in. I booked a bunch of cabins for Summer in Nov and even as late as March.

Big Cedar points sell at a premium, but you don't have to own there to get a good unit.

We just got back from Big Cedar Wilderness. We were told points were 2.20 and we asked about an additional week 25 deed. They didn't have it and said they were almost sold out. Shortest update in history. Don't know if this is true, but thought I would pass it on anyway.
