  • Bluegreen Questions.....

Hi. I am totally new to timesharing and forums. Please excuse me if I sound dumb, or clueless! Thanks.

OK, my husband and I were in LV in April, and had the presentation for Bluegreen. We decided not to purchase at that time, but got the sampler package for 9k points. I am confused, if we decide to purchase with Bluegreen, will LV still be our 'home'? And, should we purchase from LV or go to an online auction and purchase? If we do purchase, we intend to use it for ourselves and our family. From what I have read, I am leaning towards purchasing them from Bluegreen, only because location, location, location seems to be a hot button, and if we own in LV, it seems that that would be a hot location. Am I correct or not??

And how easy is it to book vacations with Bluegreen? From what I have been reading, it doesn't look to complicated, it just appears that it needs to be done 1 year in advance, which is not a problem. We really don't intend on going to LV each year, actually, we live on the east coast, so there are numerous BG resorts within driving distance to us. I don't suspect we will go to LV except maybe once every 4 years or so.

Thank you for any help you can provide!! It is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Welcome to our Bluegreen Forum. You have come to the right place for information about the Bluegreen Vacation Club.

The sampler package is a decent deal if you can travel off season and you like the resorts they offer you. It will give you a good feel for how Bluegreen works.

    To answer your specific questions:

    1) For the most part, it does NOT matter where you are deeded within the Bluegreen Vacation Club. There are some circumstances where it matters, but it's not exactly what you are thinking. The most important benefit of owning at a specific resort is that you get access to your priority week there. Your priority week is your deeded week and unit number. You can book that unit 12-11 months in advance of checkin without competition. Then, at the 11 month mark, all inventory becomes available in the reservation system for all points owners on a first come, first served basis. Since most people do not know about their priority week, almost nobody exercises that right. So, points are points for the most part.

    2) For most Club resorts, it isn't hard to get a reservation if you book 11 months in advance of checkin. Of course, peak season and holiday weeks are the exception. Associate resorts are harder to get only because of limited availability at those resorts. In order to get into some of these resorts, you need to be Silver or Gold preferred. Those owners can get on a waitlist to be booked first in the open reservation period.

If you want information about how to purchase on the resale market and your options for getting additional benefits such as VIP bonus time and preferred member benefits, send me a PM and I'll provide you additional information.
