  • Bonus Time

I know you have to buy from BG or an authorized reseller to be eligible for bonus time and other perks.

Is there a minimum number of points you must buy to be eligible for bonus time?

Once you have any points from BG or an authorized reseller, are you always eligible for bonus time even if you have other points from a non-authorized reseller?

How hard is it to use bonus time? Our BG salesman made it sound like you could use your points for weekdays and then use bonus time for weekends as it is cheaper than using points on the weekend. Is that true?

How hard is it to reserve partial weeks even if using points instead of bonus time?

    Thanks.

You just need to make ONE purchase from an authorized reseller to qualify for bonus time. It can be ANY number of points. The lowest prices you'll ever see for such a package is between $3500-4000.

Bonus time is great. It is possible to use points for the week and bonus time for weekends, but only in the offseason or at resorts with a lot of surplus availabiltiy like Orlando or Daytona Beach.

It's not a good strategy for hard to get locations like Christmas Mountain Village in the summer.

I know a number of people who use this strategy to stretch their points. Some book a local hotel on the weekend as back up. Others play games such as booking a full week and then ending up cancelling the weekend. It's not a condoned or supported reservation technique, but people do play it. Bluegreen has implemented new policies to discourage this type of Club use. But, people still manage to find the loopholes around them.

Personally, I don't do it simply because we don't like having to change units.

      Thanks Boca.

How hard is it to get partial weeks if I simply don't want to stay 7 nights? Don't you have to wait until 45 days out to reserve partial weeks and wouldn't that make it difficult to reserve during prime time?

You can book partial weeks at 5 months from checkin. At many resorts, this is not a problem getting partial weeks.

You can only book bonus time 45-days (48-days if you do it online) from checkin.

          Thanks, that is helpful info.

When you said that the lowest priced package that qualifies for bonus time is $3500-$4000, was that from an authorized reseller or from BG?

            New Member--Just Bought Resale

We just bought resale from Bluegreen's authorized reseller and got all the bonus time, VIP etc. We paid $4000 for 6,000 annual points which is like 66 cents a point! Of course we had closing costs of like $500 but I figure we saved a bundle. I was a little scared to buy from Ebay or anything and with this being our first package I really wanted that bonus time for short getaways. We're within driving distance of Big Cedar.

Also, on a side note: the Realtor at the resale place said that if the points are much cheaper than what we paid Bluegreen buys them back. I'm not sure if that's hooey or not but makes sense to me. I watched for weeks and never found any cheaper per point and in our price range.

With bluegreen, if you stay less than a week, are there housekeeping fees. How do they figure the rate?

Bluegreen has NO reservation fees and NO housekeeping fees (with the exception of a few flex/floating week ownerships such as Christmas Mountain Village and Shenandoah Crossing UDIs).

But, they do have a $35 change fee and a $50 cancellation fee for current reservations. If you tend to take the vacations you book, then you will incur no additional reservation fees.

If you are a Silver or Gold preferred owner, these fees are waived.

I love being able to book online but I'm not able to reserve anything more than a one bedroom unit.

It would be nice to be able to book point reservations online.

Im Going To Have Pure UDI At Shenandoah Crossing. I Called Pinnacle To Ask About Them And She Said If I Bought resale Points Deeded At Shenandoah Crossing TheN I Could Use Those Resale Points To Ask For An Upgradd From The Smallest 2 Bedroom Units I Have To A Larger Unit. Is This True? Because She Told Me This I Bought 8000Every Other Year Points Off Of Ebay Today. Is ThIs True? And If It Is, There Are 10000More Shenandoah Annual Points For Sale On Ebay Now. Do You Think 8K Every Other Year Is Enough To Upgrade If I Want To Regularly Request Upgrades?
