Adding Points

My husband and I just purchased from the Bluegreen developer in July. We are new to this whole timeshare thing, but from perusing the discussion boards here and on Yahoo, we realize that it would be more economical to purchase extra points from an agent. We are both teachers and a fair amount of our travel time occurs in the summer. Currently, we only have 9,000 points EOY. I am not so sure this will be enough for us. We take at least one big vacation a year with our three children- and are fans of Disney. Our question is: What would be our best options as far as adding on and how many points should we get?

The great thing about Bluegreen is that it is so easy to add points. The only questions you need to ask yourself at this point is

a) how many points do you really need? Tell us a bit about your vacation habits and I'll show you how to determine the number of points you need.

b) do you really want and/or need to become a Silver Preferred owner. I usually recommend that a person's second purchase take them to Silver Preferred. That is the level at which the benefits make your ownership really easy to use.

Adding Points

Thanks for the quick response. We want enough points to be able to vacation at the minimum 1 week a year, with a frequent destination to Disney. I know we can exchange through II for one of the Disney resorts, but it is pricier. We won't vacation there yearly, but every few years or so. We also like to go to the beach oceanfront and have the ability to vacation during odd times-like Spring break, Christmas time and Thanksgiving. I know in some places these are prime times and others they are not. It would be nice to have preferred for those reasons and for the added value it provides.

then I'd try to get to at least 15000 annual. If your budget will allow it, I'd try to stretch to 20000. Silver Preferred is the best level to get to today.

You can purchase 10000-16000 annual points and combine them to what you have already.
