hello, I'm new to the time share group on here and on yahoo. the bad thing is i am not new to bluegreen. i bought from bluegreen about 3 years ago and just upgraded to silver preferred this past July when we were spending a week at sea glass tower. i think i got every benefit bluegreen has to offer. everything from unlimited bonus time, grand yacht club, to travelers plus but it cost me since i bought from bluegreen. my question is what to do now? with 20000 points i have plenty to vacation with but the only way i see to offset the cost of buying from bluegreen is to look for a really good resale of more points from a resales agent. would that work? any ideas anyone?

First, welcome to the group. BG is a great system, and TSForums is a great resource. We can certainly help you get the most of your 20,000 points. I'm not sure what your goals are...what do you mean by "offsetting" your purchase price? Are you wanting to add more points to lower your average CPP? How many points do you need for your vacation style?

      Steven,

I completely understand why you would want to lower your average cost per point. It's hard to resist when you see so many good bargains on the market.

My personal view is that you should not try to rush out and acquire a bunch of points just to lower your average cost. That would be a waste of money. Rather, sit back and use your ownership and take some wonderful vacations. Don't look back. Your ownership will pay you back after you collect years of memories with your family.

I am an advocate of helping people purchase the number of points they need. You know you need more when you are constantly running out of points even after borrowing them. If you don't need them, don't buy them.

If you do want to acquire more points, I would encourage you to buy up some cheap deeds and target an upgrade to either 35,000 points or 60,000 points. Why those levels? Because 35,000 is Gold Preferred and 60,000 is the level at which you will have enough points to pay all of your maintenance fees with points and still have about 20000 left over to use.

Send me a PM if you want to learn how to do that.
