i'm sure no one here would be fooled by this, but Bluegreen sent a warning about this company suggesting affiliation with them. Then, today, I had a call from them: Timeshares by Owner aka Sellmytimesharenow. BEWARE! it's an upfront fee company. Fortunately, I wasn't home. --ken

I got my call from them today. Lots of stories from them including how Bluegreen is now selling for $3.00 per point, and that they can sell my points at $2.30 per point. Bluegreen isn't paying for RCI anymore. Bluegreen isn't doing this or that and on and on and we can sell or rent your timeshare and get you money.

When I got his email, he (Bill) listed a 'one time non-recurring fee' of $799 for lifetime sell or rental of my property or points.

I went to the BBB and looked up the company info. PART of what I found is listed below :
      Selling Practices (54 complaints)
      16 Resolved
38 Company made every reasonable effort to resolve

      Advertising Issues (24 complaints)
      9 Resolved
15 Company made every reasonable effort to resolve

      Service Issues (19 complaints)
      1 Resolved
18 Company made every reasonable effort to resolve

I really wonder what the company did to make "every reasonable effort" and who defines that, the company or BBB?

        Good research Don!

When they call me I take down all of there information, inform them I am on the "Do Not Call List". I ask to be removed from there list and tell them if they call again I will report them for violating the Do Not Call policy. I haven't received any more calls.

I know this may be a silly question with the availability of information nowadays, but where do you suppose they get the mailing/phone list telling them we are BG owners? RCI? BlueGreen?

          I wondered that too.

I have, in the past, emailed some of 'those type' of places. I know better now. I don't know if one of the contacts from the past sold my name to these people, or if they are getting the BG information somehow. I have never used RCI, I don't even know my member number.

They only knew I was BG, they had no idea how many points I had, or how much I used the points. I don't think the info is from BG.

My guess is they are getting the info from some public record.

I guess I didn’t respond to them quickly, so they called again.

Again, stories. They told me I could rent out 5000 points and make about $1400. Based on that, The Fountains, a beautiful resort, would get me about $4200, or about $600 a night. Trip advisors has this at $277 a night, $261 at Yahoo Travel. How they expect to get double the price of the national companies listed price, I just can’t figure.

After a 26 minute call, and since I had questioned her lack of knowledge about Bluegreen and that the company had such a poor rating with the Better Bus. Bureau, and that the last points I bought I paid about 50 cents per point, not $2.30 per point that she was selling, she decided I was wasting her time and that was the end of the call.

It is sometimes fun if you have time to "play along" with those guys to listen to their story. Of course, with 5 kids running around, I don't have that luxury.

I think your point about the source of our names being the public record is accurate. I believe they are likely using real estate transaction records (recording of deeds) to track us down.

Owner beneficiary rights are not recorded. The deed reads the Bluegreen Vacation Club Trust.

They are likely buying names from direct mailing firms. And, they are probably getting them from people inside the resorts. They call me all the time and ask for my renter, but they are calling my number. They can only get that from the resort manifest at checkin.
