I do have a question for you........are you a local, travel out here much, or just surf the Internet?

As far as your final comment, I hope that's not the classy attitude that you display on a tour when selling.

Geez, just curious, Besides why would I ask a tour that??
You sound educated, and maybe live in LV. That's all I meant.

Then I apologize for getting snarky. Unfortunately your tone at the other thread your are commenting on left me questioning your motives.

I travel to Vegas a couple of times a year. I also work for a commercial real estate developer so I do some business in the southwestern US.

You didn't need to send me an unsolicited picture. I still stand by what I said. Its not a common path for planes to take to land. I LIVE here. I know which way the planes come.

Besides which, I just don't get it. If you're OPCing for Bluegreen, why would you be on TUG slamming the location? Sure doesn't make any sense to me. If you don't have any respect for the customers, you won't be good at this in the long run. But then, this isn't like some places, and OPCing is often almost temp work.

Its different some places. In Mazatlán, Ezikiel has been OPCing for Pueblo Bonito from the booth near Costa de Oro for something like eight or ten years, that I know of.

First the guy who mentioned being an OPC, said he HAD been an OPC. (Thank you, Boca, for the explanation of OPC. Certainly not a job I would want to have at all....people avoiding you....trying to get people to stop at your booth.)

Next, it seems as though the people in this thread are forgetting one little gem which is why I love Bluegreen so much. You buy in Vegas, you can go to any of the BG locations which now probably number over 50 with the Shell Select Connections added to it. And if I go to Harbour Lights in SC and buy I probably will not even be deeded at HL but somewhere else and again the beauty is that it really does not matter where I am deeded because the system lets me go to any of the resorts available.

So, who cares if it is in the most used runway stretch? They aren't selling Vegas totally when selling out there; that would be DUMB...they are selling the whole system like they are anywhere. Of course, wherever you are they are first going to ask if you are planning to come back there and if so, then they are indeed going to make that be the BIG drawing card for you to make a purchase.

Being from Northern Michigan, I look at Vegas as a place that is for the most part too hot for me. So, if I were to go to Vegas, I would probably be inside or in my car going somewhere touristy---Lake Mead, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Red Canyon (I think that's the name), etc. If am a gambler, I'm staying inside. If I want to go see entertainment, I'm going to stay inside. I'm guessing they will have transportation to and from the strip and various other casinos--not that they will be without casino itself at Club 36.

We are going back to Vegas this December and will be staying at the Cliffs at Peace Canyon on an RCI exchange. I had planned to stay longer and stay at BG too but my husband can't get that much time off work at that time. Our daughter lives in Vegas. Anyway, I'm told the outdoor pool at the Cliffs is not heated and it will be too cold that time of year to swim in it, so I'm thinking that there really isn't any time that I would want to be in the pool/outside in Vegas if the pool isn't heated.

So, for the most part, I don't think being outside is a problem with the airport noise interference, if it is a problem at all.........because I don't think most people will be outside much. And inside, I am sure you won't hear or feel a thing. Fifteen years ago, I stayed in a hotel on the 6th floor just outside Detroit Metro airport, a major hub. I was amazed as I watched the jets coming in and going out that I could feel nothing and I could hear nothing, yet they were whizzing seemingly very close to the hotel. With the curtains closed, you had no idea you were right beside the airport. And I am sure soundproofing has come a long way in those 15 years!

I'm sure the salespersons ARE concerned about the airport noise affecting sales. Sales are their bread and butter, after all. If they are sharp cookies at what they are doing, they will use the airport location, as has been said, to their advantage to overcome any concerns people may have. I think the location is superb myself! I have been and still am so excited that it is so close to the airport.

BG are not nitwits to have put this resort in this location. They got "cheap" land off the strip, but yet very close to the strip and many of the nicer casinos. (They put us up at the Ex Calibur near there when we were there November 2006.) ANd the close proximity to the airport is a HUGE plus. Not a negative for most, although as I said, I can see where the salespeople SHOULD be concerned so they will know how to allay fears of potential owners. Just another thing for them to do. Hey! If they can sell timeshares out of a trashy place in Vegas next to McDonald's (in the same building) and not have anything built on the ground yet with people picketing Bluegreen out in front for being unfair to the laborers working at the work site, I think they can sell from a classy resort next to the airport, in the path of arriving and departing 747s!

I'm more concerned about what has been said about this nasty drainage ditch near the resort.

Geez. Sorry. I thought the picture would prove my point.

I was an OPC at the Bass Pro Shop location for like 2 weeks. Not my cup of tea. People avoided the booth like the plague. The offer was, 3D2N at a strip hotel for $59 (usually a mid-level Harrah's property like Bally or Flamingo)

Besides trying to collar people, mostly Bass Pro shoppers or folks looking for the casino, there was nothing to do. Couldn't sit down or even read. Monotony was my enemy. Also, the drive from Centennial Hills to Blue Diamond was a killer.

I do respect customers. Been in sales 25 years and thought I'd try timeshare. Without customers, there is no sale. So why would anyone disrespect a potential buyer? I mean it's common sense.

FWIW, I own a business which provides me income and builds equity to offset the bath I took on my house. Also, I am contemplating training to become a service advisor.

                That's my story. What's yours?

I don't know if at this point you can quite appreciate the wall shaking noise you will hear (and feel) on occasion when a jet lands at McCarran (no takeoffs on that strip). As for location near the Strip, there are no sidewalks on Trop and the LV drivers are among the worst goobers around. Not a safe stroll. It's still appr a half mile to the Strip, and although it was nice gesture to have been put up at the Excalibur they didn't exactly break the bank for an owner, or prospective owner. Rooms there are typically $49-59.

I emailed a picture of the plane landing on top of the resort. I'll send to you IF you want it. The other lady obviously was offended. As for the drainage ditch, it's not even a cement wash, and it is UGLY!!! I just don't think it was a well thought out project. Now in the future, there will be an adjoining property called McCarran Village, a mixed use type of thing. Casino, shopping, etc... But with the building industry tanked for now (the Cosmopolitan had their financing pulled halfway through) I wouldn't bet the rent. This resort is well off the beaten path. You will need a taxi to get around.

That said, Bluegreen is probably the best kept secret in timeshare but I believe they blew it on this one.

Lastly, the weather. Yeah it gets hot in the summer. 115 degrees is typical and that's measured in the shade at McCarran. Real temp is probably 120-125. But, no humidity. I'm from the east coast and I'll take those temps anytime. Just takes getting used to. Of course you can trade to other BG or through RCI. But LV takes some getting used to.

I also sold on the floor at Worldmark, and did owner upgrades for Pacific Monarch. This information is on another thread. So now I have a little more cred. I also have inside knowledge of the industry that most speculate about. So feel free to ask me, just everyone dial it down a notch please.

Thanks for posting. It's good to hear from people in the industry. I was just in Las Vegas for the ARDA convention last month. I stayed at the Grand Desert. Nice resort, nice location.

I didn't get a chance to go to the Bluegreen resort. I'll try to stay there later in the year. I think the grand opening is around Labor day.

My story? I'm just a little old retired lady who lives in Sun City Anthem.

But before that? Ahhhhhhhh... Back in the 1990's I was the moderator of the original timeshare bulletin board, on an online service called Prodigy. I met a lot of people there who later joined TUG and Timeshare Forums. I also maintained the first set of consumer oriented timeshare help and advice web pages. I did this for about ten years.

Along the way I met Bill Rogers (of TUG), and when Prodigy folded its boards he offered to set up boards for me at TUG. Laurence Chan did the original coding, and John Cummings and I were the original moderators.

I know the Las Vegas timeshare scene well for several reasons. First, of course, is because I live here and have an inquiring mind. I was also an owner at Ramada Suites/Leisure Suites/Summer Bay for many years, and at one time a member of its board of directors.
