There are definately alot of vineyards-- Kings Dominion is fun this time of year -- the have fright fest-- although they may be only open during the weekends this time of year.

Lots of pretty scenery-- and lots of history!

Wineries! Well now I am interested. I have been making wine over 20 years and never turn down a chance to do some tasting.

Actually, my wife is a history teacher, so we will be going to visit that area sometime. And the whole time we are there, she will tell me all about the history of the area. Why do you thing I got into wine?

Now that Mr Trump came in and opened a winery, there is so much signage that there didn't used to be. So the wineries have gotten much better because they are so much easier to find. Shenandoah is my favorite resort for one reason. You really never need to leave the property. Now I am all over the history places...ps you should definitely check out the Exchange Hotel in Gordonsville. It's a historical (beautiful) hotel that during the civil war was forced to a hospital. Rumored to be extremely actively haunted. People visit for the history and beauty, but ghost hunters stake that place out constantly and have had many things cauguy in video! There are reportedly thousands of bodies of civil war soldiers buried all around the property. It's a must see. Then toy w can't miss the Barbq exchange in Gordonsville. Excellent, also a must! But again, if you think you're going to go more than once and you get all of that stuff in....at the end of the day, you can still never leave that enormous property and you and your kids will never get bored! And mom and dad can have a cocktail poolside while the kids just go. It's so secure there and they have trails and game rooms and you name it for them too be safely occupied. Bug spray...bring it. You are in the woods. But also enjoy the woods. Watch the herd of guinea birds cackle as they go by, pet the turkey, watch the peacocks, geese. Stay in different types of accommodations. Try a yurt. They're gorgeous on the inside(it's a tent on steroids) the bathroom is my favorite room! , try staying in a trickled out RV one visit. There is just so much to try and experience. The staff are great. They have a huge organic garden that the restaurant uses all of their vegetables from. They have a large outdoor movie area, very nice, and the rolling hills are just so beautiful. It's a one of a kind in the bluegreen family. Christmas is their busiest week. They sell out. They have a full kitchen with everything you need to prepare a Christmas meal.
