Sales Approach (Lies) at Owner's Update

It is my understanding that if you are purchasing points in the BG Vacation Club that you actually own the points and the deed is owned by the BG Vacation Club Trust. I am not the legal expert on this issue, but I do not believe BG can take away points from you just like you cannot remove your deed from the trust. I am sure some experts on this issue will add a post here, but I also encourage you to call BG and speak to Owner Services and the Title area. I called them to ask specific resale questions when I was purchasing my first resale package and most of their answers were accurate and helpful.

I would be interested to know if your friend was told that the points do not transfer at an owner's update. Last month during an owners update they used this approach on my wife and I. The salesperson said that I had a "Corporate Concern Account" since I had purchased resale and had attended two owner's updates without buying points directly from BG. Supposedly it was the salesperson's understanding that soon I would only be able to use my deeded weeks and I would lose the rights to my points. I knew this story was a lie so I pushed back and things got ugly. In addition, the sales person did not realize my additional purchase that was in process through an agent of their authorized reseller, Pinnacle Vacations (a BG subsidiary), had the same extra benefits as new points from the developer. (Note: contact BocaBum/Jim if you are interested in buying through Pinnacle.) After he got real ugly as we discussed this topic his manager soon came back to apologize profusely for the way we were treated.

My personal belief is that this new sales tactic claiming that resales will lose use of their points is a lie and pressure tactic to increase sales. I would be interested to hear if anyone believes there is any legal way that BG could take away points and only let resale owners use deeded weeks.

      Charlie,

You can purchase your points from your friend either with or without the benefits of bonus time. But, the bonus time option will cost you quite a bit more.

If you are interested in the details, send me a PM and I'll help you out.
