  • suggestions for buying w/benefits intact

Hey all, we attended the bluegreen presentation in charleston sc this past weekend, & my wife & I are sold on the program, just not what they are charging. After doing a little research (you know, I bet timeshare sales were a lot easier before the age of the inet & forums!), I def know that we can do it better.
Any suggestions on how to do this would be much appreciated. The 2 benefits we def want intact are the RCI exchange & the bonus time. What would the best way to do this? buy a small number of points from pinnacle, then some from ebay, & combine the deeds? Any help will be much appraciated. Thanks so much guys!

We just closed on 6,000 annual points with Pinnacle. We paid $4,000 and we're really happy. We've got Bonus Time and VIP and even 1 free year Traveler's Plus. Our package even came with 6,000 banked points that we're using to go to Daytona in November. So, overall--what a deal!

I would not buy points from Ebay because they don't count torward "Bluegree Preferred". Once you hit 20,000 and 35,000 point levels there are tons of additional benefits. Right now when the kids are little we just wanted to get our foot in the door so to speak and to get bonus time when we take them to Big Cedar. However, 6,000 isn't a ton of points and I've found 14,000 for $7,000 on Pinnacle. Maybe in a few years we'll add those and the we're in "Bluegreen Prferred Silver".

There's a guy on here who is a referral agent for Pinnacle.

      Snagged by Bluegreen

We also recently attended the presentation in Tennessee and are somewhat interested. Our big issue is we love CAMPING in the woods and aren't really into the big resorts. We were really turned off by the traffic in the Smokies even though the Mountain Loft was in a little quieter area. Also we have a Boston terrier that we take everywhere with us. BUT, we did like that we could deed it to our children. What would be a nice "package" for us? We are in Panama City so we would like the day use of the two located here.

I think part of it also depends on what sized unit you need. We bought 6,000 and that'll get you a studio just about anywhere, especially if you save them and have 12,000 built up. But, when our kids get bigger and we have to have a 2 bedroom, we're going to be somewhat limited on what we can really do with 6,000 so we'll upgarde. The nice thing with Bluegreen is the partial weeks. I can take the kids and get a 2 bedroom somewhere for 4-5 days with no problem for 9,000 or so. Of course the major reason we bought was to take our kids to Big Cedar on Bonus time and there we can get whatever sized room is available.

This is just my opinion of course but the eoy (every other year) points seemed like a major hassle. You'd have points expiring that you couldn't bank and save with other points. I've also heard they are hard to add to because the other points package you get would be every year and then you'd have trouble combining points and things like that.

Sorry, I've been away for a couple days. In Seattle at the moment. Went to the USC-Washington game. Ugly win, but I'll take it.

I can help you get All benefits. That would include Bonus time, Traveler Plus and Silver/Gold preferred if you want it.

Traveler Plus includes Select Connections for access to Shell Vacation Club, the Grand Yacht Club for private yacht trips in the Caribbean and South Florida, Coast-to-coast campgrounds, hot weeks and discounted cruise, airline and hotel travel.

Also, Bluegreen announced bronze (15000) and platinum levels (60000), but not the benefits.

Send me an email or pm if you would like additional information.

                EOY not really a problem

We had several packages including one EOY. When we consolidated with Bluegreen to get only one anniversary date and the new maintenance fee structure, there was no problem with the EOY. Since the EOY was for 15000 points, we only added 3500 to come up with an appropriate size package that was all every year.

As far as managing the EOY, we just paid fees a year in advance so we could use all points for high red if we chose.
