  • Feb 21 notice about resale benefits

Does anyone have documentation on this? I have used Bonus Time already but would like to have something "official" since my purchase wasn't actually closed at that time.

I found it interesting while attending an owner update a few weeks ago that the sales guru saw red flags because their printout showed that I didn't have Bonus Time or RCI attached to my deed . They were concerned that I would get a separate bill for my RCI dues and that I might be denied the use of Bonus Time in the future.

They pushed pretty hard for us to trade in our annual points and purchase an EOY package so that we could "front load".

Yes, the Feb 21 notice is real. I received one. Only timeshare brokers and resellers received it. Bluegreen informed the brokers so that they could communicate the fact that the VIP and Preferred owner benefits would no longer transfer unless the purchase was made through Bluegreen or a Bluegreen authorized reseller.

And, I can confirm that Bluegreen is now enforcing the no transfer rule. The way they do it is they set a resale flag on your account when it transfers at Resort Title. When you book a reservation with customer service, your account flashes red. So, it is now very easy for Bluegreen to determine whether or not you have VIP benefits.

Bluegreen grandfathered all contracts that were signed and submitted to Resort Title on or before Feb 21. I submitted about 10 deals on Feb 21 and all of them received VIP and Preferred owner benefits. Most of them closed between June and Aug.

Now, to get the VIP and Preferred owner benefits on the resale market you must purchase them from an authorized reseller. I can help people with that since I am a referral agent for Pinnacle Vacations who is Bluegreen's exclusive resale distributor of Bluegreen Vacation Club points.

Thanks. I thought maybe they sent a letter all owners at that time.

Like I said, I have used Bonus Time with no troubles but I did book it online if that would make any difference (I wouldn't think so).

At the update I attended they tried to use the scare tactic that Bonus Time and RCI membership wasn't attached to my deed. I just let that go in one ear and out the other. According to someone I spoke with at Resort Title, no one has these attached to a deed.

If you have a bonus time interface online, then you are grandfathered in. Just don't sell that particular account. You can add as many as you want, but if you sell that one account, you will lose bonus time.
