  • Bluegreen is discontinuing its owner rental program - an alternative

Bluegreen is discontinuing its owner rental program. So, I am creating a website for Bluegreen owners to rent their points.

If you are a Bluegreen owner and have interest in such a site, send me an email and I'll put you on the distribution list for information regarding this initiative.

The BG website has not been updated. They still list putting up point for rent and the procedure.

I guess I see this as a bad move on BGs part. There will not be the showings and sales pitches with out the rentals.

      Don,

Bluegreen is just rolling out its transition plan. Stay tuned. Bluegreen is smarter than you are thinking.

After talking to some of the people, I do hope so.

Bluegreen has their announcement posted of the discontined rental program, as Boca has already stated. They have listed a half dozen rental agencies. Most of these, I have not heard of and don't know anything about them.

I have used myresortnetwork, it is cheap to list and easy to use.
I have stayed away from Redweek.com as I don't like the idea of having to sign in to look at their listings.

Of course, there are agencies listed that charge the $200-$300 up front fees. Everything in my body says not to do that (again).

Does anyone have any positive experience with any rental agency, or a good method of renting some points or weeks? I have more points then I can use at this time since my teacher DW has limited time off from school. As such, we need to rent out some time.

I have had positive experiences with myresortnetwork as well. I have used Redweek but not much anymore.

Craigslist is decent but use extreme caution due to possible scammers.

Once in awhile, I will google timeshare rentals and see what pops up first on the search. If it is a free/nominal listing charge, I will give it a try.

            Good luck.

I just pulled up 'Timeshare Adventures' website. I found their report of recently rented units. I put that info into my spreadsheet and found the average time on market (for rentals through their site) is 7.34 months. That was kind of a 'wow' to me. Just...wow.

I have 35000 points (current) and 8000 saved points I need to use up. I realize BG has discontinued the rental program. I used them to rent out 3 different weeks before discontinuing their program without much success. They did rent out a week at Mountain Loft. My week for 4th of July week in Christmas Mountain only rented for 2 days (I used the rest of the week) and my week at The Fountains only rented out for two 2 day segments of the week. I don't know how much BG did to get your unit rented but it didn't seem like much especially when they kept 35% of the rental.

I printed off the list of the sites posted on BG. So far I have called 3 to inquire about renting out my points.

Always on vacation.com - called and was on hold for over 30 minutes till I
                  hung up.

Timeshare Lifestyle - Want $199 per rental contract or $695 for a 5 year
contract. You keep 100% of the rental price minus
$49.95 guest pass/attorney fee. You can have up to
2 ads at a time. Their salesperson seemed to be more
flexible in whether I book certain weeks vs rent them as
                  points.

Timeshare Adventures - Want $195 per rental or $795 for a 5 year contract.
When I told them that another company had $695
fee for the 5 year contract, they said they would
match it. You get to keep 100% of the rented
price minus a $49.95 which they say is for the BG
                  guest pass for the renter.

I also looked at Redweek.com. Some of the other sites I have looked at charge a significant percentage of the rental amount.

I really could use some advice on whether to go with one of these companies or try to rent them myself. If I rent them myself what is the best site to use to advertise. What is the best form of payment if I rent them out myself? What is a good site to get a rental agreement I can use. Being I am a gold member with BG I can put myself on the waiting list 13 months out and get some premier weeks like Daytona during the Daytona 500 and some others.

I appreciate any and all help

                  Diane

What is this 'guest pass' that has been mentioned? If a week as booked, then reservation changed into someone elses name, is there now a charge for something else? I have a unit booked for Daytona 500 week and 2 for Myrtle Beach Bike Week. If I need to do something about guess passes, I am unsure what to do.

                        Don,

There is no guest pass for Bluegreen. That is just a fee that those providers charge on the back end of the rental.
