  • Christmas Mountain Units

Questions and answers regarding Christmas Mountain were posted in the "sticky" threads where they probably don't belong. But the questions are important so I have started this new thread.

Christmas Mountain Village is the resort. It has several accommondations, including:
    Log cabin
    Villa
    Timbers
    Delux Timbers
    Cottage
    Townhome
Best bet to select is to go to the resort website
Christmas Mountain Village - Wisconsin Dells resort for golf and skiing

I believe the delux timbers are supposed to be nicer, but I like the cottage or cabins (can't remember which).

I have learned that it always pays to call the resort directly and ask them which they would stay in. I can usually find the best units that way.
Since RCI deals with Homeowners Associations, there may be several RCI numbers for a given resort complex. When you are reserving with BG, that doesn't matter. Just reserve what you want (assuming availability). The Townhomes require more points but all the other units have the same point values.

The cabins and cottages are much smaller than the deluxe timbers. The cabins and cottages are more rustic. The deluxe timbers have two bathrooms while the cabins and cottages have only one. The cabins and cottages have wood burning fireplaces while the deluxe timbers have gas fireplaces (also JennAir outside grill, screened in porch, and washer/dryer). The cabins are set in either a pine woods or an oak woods and has a really nice outdoor ambience. The cottages and deluxe timbers are more "city" like but not as bad as the townhomes.

We have stayed in these four types of units (but not the villas or regular timbers) and might be able to answer more detailed questions if you have them.

Additional notes, some of the cabins have gas fireplaces, although I can't understand why, and I think they all have charcoal grills. The place we stayed last year, 1br townhome or timbers, not even sure anymore, it did not have a grill, but the two bedroom that it was joined with, did have a grill and screened in porch. Our unit has an apartment sized stove. I like space, so two bedroom is required for us.

Christmas Mountain has some nice units and cover pretty much all styles of resort lodging enjoyment. I would still call Xmas Mnt to verify the units and then call BG and ask for what the resort told you. Just get your reservation in early.

The 17 (regular) Oak Timbers and all of the 55 Villas have screened in porches. The Oak Timbers are 900 Square Feet when including the screened in porch with Jennaire grills, a table and 4 chairs and are on on one level. Bluegreen says they are 1,100 SF but they are wrong as I measured them. The fireplaces are gas fireplaces.

The Villas are a story and a half units that are 1,250 SF and have a hot tub up in the Master Bedroom. The 11 Oak Villas and 44 Pine Villas are in differant areas and I perfer the Oak Villa-Oak Timbers area of the resort.

On the newer Townhouse Timbers is were they have on the average the most steps and the steepest hills. I would not want to be in that new Townhouse Timbers area if there is a bit of ice on the groupn as the hills back there have 45 degree inclines. They have 2 porches but they are not screened in porches and do not have the Jennaire grills. They do have gas grills located in clusters over about 100 feet away from some the Townhouse units.

Some of the Cottages have 2 bathrooms.

It certainly sounds like you stayed in a Deluxe Timber. I should have pointed out that my comments were related to only 2 bedroom units. The screened in porches can be very nice, except when you lock yourself in one and no one is in the unit to let you out (like one lady did last week when it was quite cool at night).

As Bruce pointed out, there are some cottages with 2 bathrooms. We stayed in one once. Much to our surprise, there were no wine glasses. It just shows how different HOAs outfit their own units. (They may have wine glasses now. We were in one a few years ago.)

I am looking forward to our visit to Christmas Mnt in three weeks. I would like to say I will drive around and take notes, but I think my driving will be to take the DW to the scrapbook places. Oh what a DH I am!

they had a scrapbooking activity on the rec schedule this summer, but I don't believe it was on the fall schedule.

My brother in law locked him self on the screened porch in the deluxe timbers too. but some previous occupant must have done the same, and the screen was ripped out so someone could exit by jumping off the deck. Of course, they still couldn't get into the unit.
