Doesn't matter. There is only one other BG Branson resort, Falls Village. Is it "lesser"? Dunno. Depends on what you're going to Branson for, the resort or the shows?

Any BG resort you go to and 'take the tour' will have a list of available unit weeks in the system. Maybe there are and maybe there aren't BigC weeks on that list. Even if there are some BigC's, unless it's the week you wish to stay every year, it's just buying a deed with points attached to use at Big C or any other BG resort.

"Home Resort" is not a BG concept. "Owned Week" is. Either you have a unit week you wish to use or you don't. We bought for the points, not for the weeks assigned to those points.

Points are points and I can use them at any Bluegreen resort that is available when I book. I do not have to own a BigC week to get into BigC. Being a points owner is all the qualification I need.

While there are many owners that are gaga over BigC, I'm more of a beach person myself, so would consider BigC "lesser" than one of the new Myrtle Beach resorts, or Surfside Solara in the Miami area.

Personally, that's one of the things I like about BG - something for everyone!

Even in our very first tour 20 years ago, the industry highly discouraged buying at a lesser resort in order to stay at a better resort in the same area.

      So, this gameplan sounds suspect.

Aside from that, OY I have a thread where I am trying to ascertain what Branson can get in Branson, so this is a topic of interest right now. Specifically, I would like to know how successful folks are with getting a good week (say 4th of July) at a nice resort with a crappy week (say Christmas) at a nice resort.
      JLB,

I am using points from a crappy week at Big Sky Montana AND points from part of a good week at Big Sky to get a great week at Big Cedar. I am going to Big Cedar for the resort. Will only go into Branson for groceries. The following week I will stay in Branson to go to the shows. Next summer I will use points from two weeks at Big Sky to go to Myrtle Beach.

This has been working fine for us since we bought in 1998.

        Charles,

This discussion is actually quite illuminating to me. JLB is assuming an exchange company paradigm for how units are exchanged in Bluegreen. But, that's not how point systems work. So, he keeps making odd statements (from a points owner point of view) about how a reservation is booked.

In the exchange company paradigm, you need a lot of knowledge of supply and demand over time to predict when certain inventory will be available. So, he is asking questions about how we can be assured of getting a unit for say July 4th week.

What he apparantly doesn't know is that when all inventory goes into a system at a predictable time, owners can go get it on a first come first served based on a reliable basis.

So, what may be a miraculous exchange using RCI or II is just normal every day reservation booking for a Bluegreen owner.

I find it difficult to communicate this concept to a long time timesharing person. Whereas newbies get it quite easily. That's probably because it is more consistent with what they know in the travel industry where first come, first served bookings is prevalent.
