We finally are getting to use some of our points during spring break Mar 15-17, 2008. The problem is the only openings are for 2 days which I reserved. They have told me to call back daily because there are cancelations all the time. I am hoping to book at least 2-3 more days either there or in Big Cedar? Has anyone gone in March and what is there to do in March? We have 3 children (14, 11 and 2) and we are going to be traveling from Texas and I am hoping to have a little nice vacation. Has anyone run into this problem before and was able to get in on such short notice? We have been with Bluegreen since 05' and this is the first time I've been able to book anything. Any suggestions or anything at all about bluegreen would be greatly appreciated!

What I would do is use the online interface for bonus time and check it a few times per day. If someone cancels, you will have a chance to get something and see it online.

What do you own, that has a lot do do with what you get

Do you have any data to back this up? My information says that within the 11 month window, a BG point is a BG point. Whoever calls first gets it.

I agree with Charles. There is no 'trading power' in Bluegreen.

Not nessisarily. If your silver you get 12 months if gold then 13. If someone ownes 7000 vs someone who owns 16000 there is a huge difference. I was told that someone with 7k only has access to 6% of the units in prime time for a week. However pts are pts but you have to have enough to book the week.

That's independent of your specific owned weeks so there is truly no trading power. What you own still does not enter into it.

Additionally, Gold and Silver are only Waitlisted, there is no booking before 11 months. Only exception is booking your owned week, which again has no trading power component.

I doubt the 6% figure. Where did that come from, and how long ago? Given how many new units have been built or bought the last few years, I don't think that's accurate. I've not had much problem getting where I want to go without being Preferred.

The only time have VIP has helped me is when you go for the super requested weeks, like Dayton race week. Then I can get in on the wait list earlier, but that doesn't mean I will get the week, or on the other hand, that the week won't still be available at the 11 month booking. Having enough points to get into a good resort does make a difference.

Sorry, I had to dig for this since it wasn't on the Central Board.

There's stuff to do in Branson in March. The shows are beginning to open. Put your dates in here and see which ones:

                    Branson Show Schedule

Silder Dollar City opens March 20.

I don't know anything about Bluegreen, but if you can't get Branson with it, it can't be much.

                      Things to do

They have a new outdoor shopping center/mall. The fountain show there is supposed to be set to music with lights i.e. Las Vegas. Silver Dollar City is great for everyone, but it will be closed when you are there. If the Dixie Stampede is open, I think that is the best show in Branson for the entire family.

The Falls does have an indoor pool, but that's about it for entertainment. Springfield is 30 miles north. They have an indoor mall, a zoo, bass pro wonders of wildlife museum.

I believe that the 6% figure would get smaller with the new construction, etc. Those units generally require more points than the older resorts. (I am assuming that the 6% figure is for a full week.)

As a preferred member I make high red reservations as well as blue reservations. We all have different preferences. And your experience just illustrates that the BG system with a mix of BG inventory and owner's wishes works out. And that's great.

                          JLB,

I have read many, many of your posts and have great respect for you as a person and as a source of good information. As such, your last statement leaves me quite puzzled. Are you saying that Big Cedar "can't be much"? Your statement implies that but your other posts certainly do not.

First, I changed my can to can't, but it appears you got the meaning anyway, that if a system can't get Branson (anything at all, very little, or a paltry selection), it was a waste of money, IMHO.

But, then, when it comes to timesharing, money gets wasted every day.

Yeah, the resorts are, in general, above average, and BCWC is as good as it gets just about anywhere. However, through RCI even summer weeks are now available there. (PS: When it comes to BCWC being very nice, that is a statment about Johnny Morris, not about Bluegreen.)

So, again, if Branson is not available through a system, I am wondering just what is?

                            Know what I mean?

Through RCI for March, 2008, on very short notice, my Slimey Slough Studio is seeing:

A Total of 23 Resorts were found for CENTRAL U.S./MISSOURI: BRANSON AREA

including all the nice'ns and up to 3 bedroom units at Gold Crowns. There's a selection of golf resorts, in-town resorts, and lake resorts, including:

Before we bought a place at the lake, one thing we did every year, about the time you are searching for, is that we took a family getaway to a resort somewhere in the Ozarks, and they were never hard to come by.

So, I find it strange to see a discussion about any system where this particular trade is hard to come by.

I'm not saying my wife is prettier than yours, so don't get your panties in a bunch, I'm just saying that I'm shocked!

(Speaking of Wisconsin--or thereabouts, aTUGger is down from the frozen tundra up yonder and we had a nice round of golf yesterday--and it isn't even March, yet.)

We have spent spring breaks in Branson. Last year we went to Big Cedar and had a good time. We were lucky and the weather was warm. We took a trip on the Showboat Branson Bell which was fun. Even my then 4 year old enjoyed it. One year we saw the Comedy Pet Theater show, it was cute. There is also plenty of minature golf, if you like that. We do.
Thanks to my sister, we own a leg lamp.
