  • Want To Deposit Points Into RCI. Any Advice?

We have points that we're not going to be able to use before our anniversary date, so we want to deposit them into RCI to extend their value another two years. I have a few questions:

    1) Do we have to pick a week for an RCI exchange ourselves, or will the Bluegreen customer service person pick one for us when we call?

    2) When we call RCI with our vacation assignment, do we have to have an RCI resort/week in mind, or can we let it "float" until we do decide where we'd like to go?

Has anyone done this? Any advice on this is greatly appreciated!

You are better off to pick a week. Pick something good. Chances are not avail but you gotta try. This year I deposited 2 Memorial Day Harbour Lights at 6 months out and they traded great. Last Deposit from before was Boyne and Solara, Solara did better but both traded well. I have had a little harder time getting good exchanges from The Falls and Petit Crest but were April and November weeks. Via Roma did well with a Feb deposit. Good Luck

Thanks. I was going to try a Harbour Lights week as my trade. It's rated in RCI as a "Gold Crown" resort, so that's my first choice.

Once I deposit my Harbour Lights week into RCI, do I have to choose an RCI week, or can I decide later?

        Once you deposit with RCI

you have 2 years from the start date of the week to use your deposit for a trade to another RCI resort.

Why are you limiting yourself to RCI?

So If I understand this correctly, you have to reserve a week at a bluegreen resort to deposit into RCI? If that week at Bluegreen is not available, then you have to look for another week, right?

What if I have a week reserved and a couple months later my plans have changed and I would like to deposit that week into RCI, can I?

And how much in advance ahead of the reservation do I have to deposit into RCI?

              1. Correct.

              2. Maybe. The problem is that certain resorts are, let's say, a Friday checkin. But. let's say, you make your reservation for a Saturday checkin. RCI won't accept the Saturday checkin for that resort.

              3. The sooner you deposit the better. But, if you decide in February to deposit a January week, there might not be much demand for the January week so you have to look at the desirability of the week you are depositing. My gut feeling is that the desirability of the week is more important than how soon before the use week that you deposit it. But you don't want to deposit too close to the use week because most people have made their plans and nobody might take it.

Possibly because RCI membership is paid for in BG dues.
