  • Enabling your Select Connections when buying resale

I have had lots of owners contacting me about getting Select Connections enabled on their account. Here's what to do if you know you qualify, but it doesn't show up on your online account or when you call the Traveler Plus hotline.

First, to qualify for Select Connections, you must have made a purchase from Bluegreen or a Bluegreen authorized reseller AFTER July 1, 2006. It goes by contract date, NOT close date.

Second, if you purchased from Pinnacle Vacations, Bluegreen must update the purchase date field on your account in order for you to be recognized in the system. I normally take care of this for my customers. If you purchased from another Pinnacle agent, contact them to help you get provisioned or contact owner services and tell them you purchased from Pinnacle Vacations and you need your account updated to receive Select Connections.

Third, you also need to get it provisioned on your online account. You want to make sure it shows up online for when they add new online features. Ask owner services to do that as well.

Then, you can book a reservation in a Shell Vacation Club resort.

    Good luck.

Are you telling me that since I purchased before the cut off date that a Silver member is not going to get the Select Connections benefit???

Yes, that's the rule. If you purchased your Silver package prior to July 1, 2006, you will need to make another purchase either from Bluegreen or a Bluegreen authorized reseller to qualify for Select Connections or The Grand Yacht Club.

This has created a ton of controversy, but Bluegreen is sticking to its guns on this one. Their justification is that it's a new program that wasn't envisioned by anyone prior to July 1, 2006 and therefore it's a new product feature that requires a new product purchase. Using this logic, Bluegreen almost made it not available to Pinnacle customers either. But, they decided against it. So, the good news is that you can get it with a resale purchase.

I would presume that this only applies to resale purchases made via an authorized agent, right?

Technically, you can only get Traveler Plus if you purchased from Bluegreen or a Bluegreen authorized reseller. And, you must have made the purchase after July 1, 2006.

Are the rules the same for SVC owners. from what I gather from a friend that owns with them they can book BG props no matter when they purchased. He did tell me the booking window opens at 10 Months for the SVC owners. Which means plan ahead. What is the booking window for BG owners booking SVC properties? Is there Minimums set for purchase from BG or Pinnacle to qualify for the Select connections? I Personally could use about 2000 more points per year. I dont think I can purchase just 2K can I?

Our (BG) booking window for SVC is 240 days for a week and 90 days for less than a week. The smallest number of points I have ever heard being purchased is 3000 and that was a rarity.

2000 point deeds exist. For instance, a winter studio at Big Cedar. They are most often times married with an 18000 point summer cabin to make a 20000 point Silver Package. So, they are hard to find.

Would a 2000 point purchase through Pinnacle carry the normal benefits?

Yes, but it would cost as much as an 8000 every other year or a 4000-5000 annual point package. It's moot because there aren't any listed.

                      Thanks.

My question was only for informational purposes. I'm not in the market to buy anything right now (except for cheap gas).

When you say cost, are you talking about purchase price, maintenance costs, or both?
