No can do. I am still learning as an owner but so far I am enjoying bluegreen. Have udgraded two times since original. Am now a Silver member. Used the club twice last year on a cross-country trip. Stayed two nights in Missouri and a few nights in Vegas. I love the club.

Welcome Archsway. As a member of this forum, I think you will find even more ways to enjoy the Bluegreen club and learn how to better use it and all it has to offer. I am gold and on my 8th year of ownership.

          Unhappy owner

I am an unhappy owner. I worked hard at learning the rules and managed after several years to learn to book with my points.

However, I changed jobs and no longer have time to take the vacations, so I decided to sell.

I listed my timeshare with the company recommended by Bluegreen when I called them and asked if they would allow me to give the points back. I didn't ask that they pay me anything for them - I simply want to return them. They are paid off - I don't have any debts related to the timeshare, I'm simply tired of paying maintenance fees for something I am no longer able to use.

It was listed last year for the duration of the year for closing costs only. At midyear, I even agreed to pay 1/2 the closing costs. I never got one bite.

I would happily give the points to someone if they would pay at least half the closing costs.

If anyone knows of a way to give these points away, without me having to pay someone to take them, I'd be happy to hear what they have to say.

It may help if we knew how many points you have; what the underlying resort and the maintenance fees.

Oh, and we paid between 600 and 700 in maintenance fees last year. I'd have to look up the exact amount.

Then free would be a better price.

I said good, first, but changed it to better, since there still will be the timeshare trap even at free.

If there is one major failure of the industry it is that it still has not come up with a viable system for those who are done timesharing. It really sticks in the craw and does a ton of bad PR when folks have to keep paying for something they cannot or do not use. But, that's old news.

Yeah, I know, this site is for folks who are not to the done stage yet, so they don't like to hear about it. But, every timeshare owner some day will be done with them, and have to do something with them.

That really is the issue I have with it. If I've paid it off and I'm done with it and don't want to use it anymore. Just let me turn it back in, stop using it, and stop paying the fees. Bluegreen is more than welcome to resell it to someone else. I just want clear of it.

As I said, here we are in the midst of people who are enamored with their timeshares, so they don't care to have to think about how they will get rid of them, but everyone at some point will be done with theirs. So it is an issue that shoulda, woulda, coulda been addressed a long, long time ago (instead of the industry sticking their head in the sand and pretending it does not exist.)

If it had any real value, a resort/developer/whoever would take it back. It is very telling that they will not.

I'm trying to think of comparisons, like when you're done with a car, you sell it or take it to the junk yard. When you're done with a house, you sell it. When you're done with needing life insurance, you quit paying. With timeshares, there is not a decent exit strategy even if you don't want money for it, which in many/most cases now is assumed.

                          bummer

If you have a timeshare long enough, just like an old car, give it away, it may cost you $500 or so in fee's.. But you have had great fun over the many years..

I don't know if I would describe myself as enamored , but I certainly enjoy it. When you signed up, so to say, did you not realize that the developer was not obligated to give you an exit strategy at a time of your choosing? Part of the business model is that maintenance fee's are used to update and preserve the value of my vacation investment.

Why should I as another owner face higher maintenance fee's, or a lower quality resort due to you deciding to walk away from a commitment you made?
