Has anyone used a RCI bonus week certificate successfully?

Used one of my three

A few years ago, I was able to go to El Cid Mazatlan Yacht Resort in early summer. They gave me two adjoining one bedroom units with kitchens, etc. There was terrific deep sea fishing we caught 3 sunfish about 100 pounds each. We also watched a guy catch a 400 pound blue marlin. It was on the outskirts of the heavy resort area, so good for families/kids.

Regarding using the certificates a lot depends on the agent helping you, work them over and they may find something. I never used my other two certificates because I finally fatigued trying to book something.

Hawaii last minute......that is nice being able to use a bonus cert....they would not do this before. But now HI is hurting because of the price of jet fuel, two airlines going bk, and the current price of airfare. From what I have seen the airfares are pretty outrageous to HI these days.

Good luck and hope you can use them. I have never been able to do it.

He said that they could book me almost anywhere in Hawaii as they have had over 30 cancelations over the next several weeks.

We were able to book Pueblo Bonito Sunset, then had to change the reservation due to a hurricane, and made reservations at the Gran Melia in Cancun. This was done through our resorts RCI desk. You might want to try and use them instead of directly through RCI.

Five or six years ago I used one to land a hotel room for Presidents Week (3rd week of Feb) at the then newly-opened Grand Mayan on the Mayan Riviera. My wife and adult daughter went and had a wonderful time.

We were able to get the Grand Mayan because it had just opened and they wanted to start getting bodies in there for the sales tour. In fact, only about half the complex was in operation, and the main pool wasn't even complete. So the developer dumped a lot of inventory into RCI with almost no restriction. I made the reservation in late December for travel less than two months lager. I'm sure that it was only good for a hotel room because it was a bonus certificate.

So, while the bonus week certificates are generally only good for shoulder and offseason weeks, occasionally you can get a good gem from them.

But if you want to get useful bonus weeks, you should use SFX if you have a resort they will accept.

I guess the real problem is that you can't search online with them as u can with an II bonus(AC) week.
It is just frustrating for the internet addicted such as us

Lawren2 has posted some fabulous exchanges available in the 14 day window - if u can take advantage of that short a travel window, it would be great.
