  • Bluegreen is GREAT ownership for RCI Points

With the high cost of Airfares lately, I decided to do an update of my old analysis of Bluegreen costs for RCI Points. The news is really good.

If you own 8000 annual Bluegreen Points and you are an RCI Points owner, you can generate RCI Points at the rate of $.0059/RCI Point.

When you deposit that week into RCI Points, you will be able to get an airfare discount of $600 for those RCI points and have some to spare. That is more than your maintenance fees and annual dues.

If you are large owner, you can get RCI Points for $.0035/RCI Point. At that rate, you can fly for more than a 50% discount off of any published or discounted airfare.

My family is planning a trip to Australia next year. Coach tickets are $2300. My ticket costs will be about $1100.

If you are a Bluegreen Owner and want to learn to details of how to do this, join the Bluegreen HOA and I'll provide the details there: Bluegreen HOA sign up page

Wow! I think that is absolutely amazing. Is there any way to do that with Fairfield points? If not, maybe I chose the wrong points system.

How many points are you talking about as a large points owner?

You could always get this rate or better with a Christmas Mountain Village UDI. I just figured out how to do it with a Vacation Club account.

If you own 60,000 Bluegreen Points (they must be of the right type), your rate for RCI Points is $.0039/RCI Point for Maintenance fees.

          Get this. Resale points count.

Mike, Rick is on duty at the firehouse today.

Boca met Rick and has probably already guessed that Rick would trust me, if I decided we need to buy into another points system. We just don't have any money to do it. Although it seems that many points wouldn't cost very much.

How do you know which points to buy? The fees are different, aren't they? And how would I buy them for less as a broker? I don't see how you do that, Boca. And what is the "right type?"

Okay, my approach for using Bluegreen to generate RCI Points for between $.0039-.0059/RCI Point in maintenance fees is posted in the Bluegreen HOA forum.

I have received a ton of requests to join that forum. But, that forum is intended for Bluegreen owners only. So, I will provide a summary of the approach here.

                        1) First, you need to buy an RCI Points account. My recommendation would be one of the 3 year leases being offered by OPKansas. See his ad in the classified ads section.

A 13000 point package costs about $770 upfront. And $148.20 annual maintenance fees. You also need to pay for RCI Points annual dues which is about another $100 per year.

                        2) You use RCI Points for deposit to book one of several weeks that generate a lot of RCI Points. Your net cost will be between $.0039-.0059/RCI Points.

If you are a Bluegreen Owner, sign up for the HOA and get the step by step instructions. If you want to be a Bluegreen owner, send me a PM and I'll tell you how to pull it all together.

How do you book flights though RCI? Not having a points account I'm a little confused. Are there options of flight times, locations, and costs similar to travel sites?

                            Hello,

We have a RCI Points account with 30,000 points. Actually 60,000 since we banked last year. We could deposit a ton of other resorts on the 'points for deposit' but I can't remember those details.

I'm confused when you quote different net costs in your examples.

This PDF states it was updated 5/8/2008:
                            http://www.rci.com/docs/MarketingOff...en_US/PVSS.pdf
The chart on page 2 shows 70,000 RCI points = $600 discount

                            Thanks
                            Georgeann

                              Ron

                              Ron,

RCI Travel is a full service Travel Agent. So, you can book any available flight. What you do is look for a flight on Travelocity or such site and then call RCI Points Partners to book that same flight with Points. There is a charge of $49 per ticket. If you want to get a ticket for a guest it's another $59 (if they aren't flying with you).

As an example, let's say you find a flight to Hawaii from California for $635 on American Airlines. You contact RCI Points, they will charge you 70000 RCI Points and give you a $600 credit toward that flight. You pay the $35 difference in cash and a $49 booking fee.

If you are an 8000 point owner with a maintenance fee of $464, your real cost for that flight is:
                              - Maintenance fees and deposit fees (prorated): $440
                              - Cash difference: $35
                              - Booking fee: $49
                              Total ticket cost: $524 = 17.5% discount.

If you are a 60000 point owner with a maintenance fee of $2300, your real cost for that flight is:
                              - Maintenance fees and deposit fees (prorated): $333
                              - Cash difference: $35
                              - Booking fee: $49
                              Total ticket cost: $417 = 34% discount

YOU CAN USED SAVED POINTS to do this transaction!
