  • Questions about blue green timeshare

I have a couple of questions.
    1. We purchased June 7,2008 they sold us 20,000 bi-annual points with MF at 650 a year. They said that would be wnough to go on a vacation every year but after coming home and looking at the planner, we have 3 school age children and can mostly only travel in the red weeks. Therefore I feel I need more points then what I have. Should I just get out of this deal while I am still in the grace period?
    2. What would be the best way to upgrade my package without having to come up with alot of up front money considering I just had to put up 10%?
    3. If anybody has any other advice or info please let me know

Has your recission period passed? If not I would rescind and see what you could pick up on the resale market. You should be able to save quite a bit of money. Read our Bluegreen forum for more information.
I just reread your post...rescind, rescind, rescind.
Follow the instructions carefully and do what exactly as instructed in the contract.

Since you mentioned it first, I would suggest that you do cancel and buy points on the resale market (contact Boca Bum on this board) for at least 2/3 less than you purchased points through Bluegreen.

You can buy points elsewhere but they won't be qualified points and you won't get all the VIP benefits you got with your BG Developer purchase.

And I would suggest that you not buy EOY points. They are just harder to keep track of.

You also might like to join the Yahoo Discussion Group for Bluegreen owners; actually anyone can join--owners or not.

And as the other person said, be sure to follow the rescission instructions in your contract to a TEE! Send it certified mail with return receipt so you know they received it and when they received it. And you have proof of that too in case they say they didn't get it in time. The time period varies from state to state but since you mentioned it, I am assuming you know what your paperwork states for a cancellation period.

They will charge you $75 if you don't eventually send back the binder and the materials to them, but you do not have to and shouldn't send your contract back to them.

Some people also fax the cancellation letter into BG but I think that is overkill as it doesn't mean a thing other than to prompt them that you are canceling. I am surprised that BG doesn't call up the new canceling owner to try to talk them out of canceling when people do fax the cancellation letter ahead of time. If they get your fax in time but get your hard copy letter not in time, then you cannot cancel. Period. Done deal.

Also, if you had to get a mortgage/loan to buy these points and/or would have to in order to buy points on the resale market, I would suggest you re-think making this purchase at all. Many people have wanted to sell their points because they have become disabled, lost a spouse due to death or divorce, are just financially burdened beyond belief, etc. or a combination. So, that means they have a mortgage on them and they are usually points they purchased form the developer at the high prices and they then want to sell them and they owe MORE on them than they are worth on the resale market....usually MUCH more than their resale worth.

I don't believe in loans of any sort (any more) anyway, but I especially don't believe in loans on un-necessary items.

With all this having been said, now I want to warn you about one more thing. We bought from the developer originally, buying 13,000 EOY points. Had we canceled for whatever reason but especially because we found out about resale points, we would probably never have purchased anything again. Why? Because no matter what price tag per point you put on them, it is still a good chunk of change you are handing out. And once we thought about it, I don't think we would have done it. We are workaholics and in the past didn't take vacations, per se. Didn't want to "waste" our time on it--could take our vacation time and do things around the house. We would have then missed out on some awesome vacations that we have had in the states, plus Acapulco and the Dominican Republic.

You are thinking you need more points.................I would say to hold up on that thought. Give yourself some time and see what you will need. You are probably right, especially since you have to travel in high red season because of having kiddies in school. But you might be surprised how far your 20K EOY points will take you.

Good luck to you processing all this......here is the bottom line:

You can cancel and if you want to go back to BG developer and buy again, believe it or not, the once in a lifetime only-this-day-will-this-be-available deal will be able to be gotten again.....if not at that sales center and that salesperson, you can call up another resort and see what sales will do for you there. You might even get a better deal! (But not nearly as good as resale, even qualified resale.)

(and the BG developer salespersons tell you how very bad that resale points are--until they see you have bought some quite some time ago and they know you know they are just fine to own)

***Please do not speak about me***

Susan, 3 more posts and I think you will be able to see the Exchange Opportunities.

Am I correct on that 30 posts are needed to see those Exchange Opportunities, or is something else needed.

Guidry2732- What happened? Did you recind or buy more points?

We were tied to an academic calendar for 5 year and managed to take 2 or 3 trips a year on 15,000 annual points. By booking partial weeks (Mon-Thurs.) you will be able to have several great vacations.

When you need more points buy resale next time. (if you missed the recission date)

                        Good Luck and enjoy Bluegreen,

                        Ron
