  • Creating a Bluegreen Knowledge Base. Please provide input.

Okay, I am finally going to bite the bullet and create a Bluegreen knowledge base. I am not sure how it will manifest itself yet. I'll know when I compile all of the information and after I get your input.

Right now, I need input. Here is what I need:

    1) Questions for a Bluegreen FAQ. Please post questions that you think are important or you would like to see answered. This I can start compiling right away since this message board format is perfect for that type of information.

    2) Topics for broader discussion and/or description. An example would be exchanging. Bluegreen is a fantastic ownership for exchanging. We should have a whole topic dedicated to this subject. Post your desired topic and include some ideas for what needs to be included.

Please refrain from answering questions on this thread. The purpose of this thread is to collect questions and topics for a knowledge base. If answers or off topic posts are made, I will move those off topic posts to their own separate threads.

    Thanks. This should be fun.

FAQ- Does it make any difference where you're deeded at? If so, why? Are some resorts more desireable to be deeded at than others?

Jim, do you want to set up for just Bluegreen or do you want Bluegreen (and assoc.) resorts too?

What I would like to know is what resorts have restaurants on site. If it is an associated resort, what is the chance of getting into the resort? When might be better at getting into that resort? I found out that Lake Condominiums has 500 weeks for Bluegreen use out of 2750 weeks (I think it was). The week we are there, there are only 2 BG units available. Do the resort that have a grill, is it propane or charcoal? For multi story buildings, are there elevators? Do you need to bring: hairdryer, shampoo, corkscrew, other?

          For BG:
You can get extended stay for no points (1 day, 3 day, etc) if available. How can you do this, or work this option? I am always afraid to book an airline and hope I can stay the extra days. Is there a way to get better odds on that?

Kind of the same thing on upgrades. I don’t want to book something cheap/1 BR in hopes of getting to upgrade to a unit I really want/2 BR.

Is there anything that you could put together for the Bluegreen / SVC /Select Connections relationship and how to get best chance of a successful booking?

It might be nice to throw in a column in your spread sheet on which resorts have internet access.

The last resort didn't have shampoo or anything but soap, which I am not used to. Do I need to bring basic bathroom items?

I still go with the 'I don't know so much that I don't know which questions to ask'.

How do you get to be a member of Select Connections? I had Traveler Plus, let it lapse and then in 2007 renewed my membership again. Does this make me eligible for Select Connections?

I believe you have to upgrade your membership/ownership, not just renew traveler plus. As always, with an approved reseller.

Guys, sorry for the delay in answering these questions. I plan to put them into an FAQ sticky at the top of this forum. It's just that I am in Canada at the moment and checking out the National Park is taking up time I normally use to tend to those matters. Give me a couple of days and I'll create the FAQ sticky.

The biggest thing in my mind would be to preface with the fact that any of these answers may change at any given time as BG may and does change things.

The other thing would be to date that comment to go along with the rest of the document and indicate that as you put in new information or change information that you will indicate when it was updated.

You would probably do that anyway, but one should never assume.

                            1. Real estate taxes and when billed.
                            2. The need or not to pay ARDA and how it is billed.
                            3. The different types of BG ownerships, in a concise brief paragraph with possibly more detailed information in a different spot.
                            4. RCI Points for deposit using saved points.
                            5. List of the various exchange companies and fees associated with them.
                            6. Explanation of Direct Exchange
                            7. One night reservations available at LAI
                            8. Procedure for reserving horse ride at SC and cost associated with it
                            9. List of other forums to join regarding BG and timeshares
                            10. Places to list rentals
                            11. When upgrading through BG, you will be billed for pro-rated maintenance fees for the new points you are buying. (I really don't think this is fair since you get your initial purchase points from BG for the first year without paying maintenance fees--it's the perk to paying the HIGH dollars for your points!)

There's probably lots of others but those are just some that came to mind and they may have been on others' lists.

                            Susan

                              Boca,

Can extra points be bought from you with Shell Vacation tied in or do we have to purchase directly from Bluegreen? I would think that is a common question, although I have yet to hear from anyone who has used those resorts.
